IT Support Technician - Tier 1

About The Position

Ampera is a nuclear / small modular reactor company, and we're growing fast. Our IT team keeps a busy, on-site engineering organization productive while maintaining a strong, security-conscious IT environment. We're hiring a Tier-1 IT Support Technician to be the friendly first point of contact for day-to-day IT.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years in helpdesk or desktop support (or equivalent training/certification).
  • Comfort troubleshooting Windows, macOS, printers, and peripherals.
  • Experience with a ticketing system.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Reliable on-site presence and ability to handle IT equipment.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to security procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft 365, Entra, or Intune.
  • CompTIA A+ / ITF+ or similar certification.
  • Experience in a regulated or security-conscious environment.
  • Interest in infrastructure and security career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day ticket queue and provide first-response support.
  • Run new-hire onboarding logistics including device setup and day-1 support.
  • Handle offboarding and device collection.
  • Support printers, peripherals, meeting rooms, and Teams-room A/V.
  • Provide end-user support for passwords, MFA, applications, Windows, and macOS.
  • Manage hardware inventory and asset tracking.
  • Document procedures and maintain runbooks.
  • Follow IT security procedures and escalate appropriate issues.
