Summary: The Help Desk Technician I provides maintenance for the client computer environment by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Logs internal client calls for assistance and proposes solutions or directs their calls to those within the department who are responsible for resolving the issue. Monitors request backlog and follows-up on staff/department assignments to verify action is being taken/planned and that the client is being kept informed of the progress. Requests training as appropriate in meeting the requirements of the position. Assists writing Help Desk documentation for the staff and offers assistance to other Help Desk coordinators. Advises management of status of projects as required. Coordinates projects when needed. Is able to perform job with minimal assistance. Assists Programmer/Analysts with identifying the source of an application problems. Conducts group meetings and presentations within MIS as required. Fulfills management reporting requirements as may be requested.
