About The Position

Sightline Systems is a technology company located in Fairfax, VA that specializes in IT performance monitoring and analytics software. We are looking for a seasoned IT Support Engineer to join our team. This person will be responsible for managing all of our internal network and employee hardware (administration, installation, troubleshooting, etc.), administering our email and office communication systems, providing technical support to our customers, and assisting the engineering team with testing and releasing new versions of our software. Our ideal candidate works well on a team, has a passion for technology, and enjoys solving problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in information technology or computer science.
  • 5+ years of work experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and task management skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with TCP/IP network administration.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Linux administration.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows administration.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft stack (Active Directory, Microsoft 365/Exchange, Azure).
  • Experience with virtualization platforms — VMware and/or Proxmox.
  • Ability to adapt and learn new skills and technology.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral).
  • Experience contributing to a team.
  • Able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience installing/configuring multiple database types (MSSQL, MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, etc.).
  • Deep VMware and/or Proxmox administration experience.
  • Solid understanding of the software development process, tools, and technology.
  • Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence) or similar.
  • CompTIA and ITIL certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring, administration, and support of our network hardware and software.
  • Purchasing, installation, configuration, and support of new network and employee hardware / software.
  • Administration, configuration, and support of both our email and voice communication systems.
  • Virtual Machine management (spinning up new VM’s, managing existing, and retiring old ones) in support of the engineering team.
  • Administration and monitoring of our Customer Support website.
  • Administration of our cloud environments (Google, AWS, & Azure)
  • Perform manual installation and upgrade testing of each new release of EDM (our software)
  • Maintain and update our 3rdparty software inventory, ensure licenses are up to date, and install patches or perform upgrades as needed.
  • Provide support to our customers via phone, video conference, or email as needed.
