About The Position

The IT Strategy and Planning Director is responsible for IT strategic planning, analysis and execution of IT functional plans to ensure growth and performance aligns with the organization's strategic intent. This includes the strategic enablement layer, including taxonomy, frameworks, and tooling, establishing the standards and infrastructure required for scalable adoption, governance, and long-term consistency.

Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 10 years of experience in Data Collection and Analysis, IT Consulting, IT Performance Management, Strategy or Financial Planning, Business Intelligence and Analytics, or Business Process Design; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience owning an enablement or operating model layer (e.g., taxonomy, frameworks, standards, tooling) for a program, platform, or capability is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable standards and infrastructure that drive broad adoption across teams is preferred.
  • Experience establishing governance mechanisms (processes, controls, decision forums) to ensure consistency and compliance over time is preferred.
  • Track record of creating and maintaining reusable frameworks, documentation, and playbooks to support long-term sustainability is preferred.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally to operationalize enablement is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall enablement strategy, spanning taxonomy, frameworks, and supporting tools.
  • Develop and maintain the standards and foundational infrastructure needed to scale adoption.
  • Implement governance processes that promote aligned, compliant, and repeatable execution.
  • Ensure sustained consistency over time through clear guidance, documentation, and playbooks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to embed enablement practices into day-to-day workflows.
  • Evolve frameworks and tooling by incorporating stakeholder input and changing business needs.
  • Develop and execute IT strategies at the business unit to execute across the enterprise that align with the business unit priorities and those of IT.
  • Partner with senior planning leaders and executive leadership to create sound multi-year plan with clear planning assumptions and accurate financial insights for the IT function.
  • Monitor and conduct research of related technology and business trends, using data and qualitative performance measures, to advise senior management relative to IT strategy.
  • Synthesize annual and multi-year plans to demonstrate tie-back to corporate and CIO-level strategies and goals.
  • Conduct external research and engage partners across multiple departments within the broader enterprise to frame up potential strategic initiatives for investment or execution support.
  • Use forecast models and scenario analysis to analyze performance and develop action plans to address emerging market and technological opportunities.
  • Research new ventures and prospective service expansion opportunities.
  • Create executive reports that decipher complex technical issues.
