About The Position

This position is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. This position is for DISA White House Communications Agency at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, District of Columbia. This is an Excepted Service position and does not confer eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment under 10 U.S.C. 1599f. Duties include guiding and controlling work within the Executive Technologies Directorate, ensuring teams have the necessary direction to maintain operational readiness. The role involves ensuring system resiliency and lifecycle management by architecting and enforcing standards for high-availability across all current and emerging programs. It requires demonstrating project implementation leadership by planning and coordinating network engineering and installation projects that directly support the President, Vice President, the National Security Council, and others. The position upholds technical standards ensuring all emerging programs are compatible with existing systems and employ proper security considerations. It also provides expert engineering and oversight for the entire physical communications infrastructure, from copper and fiber optic cabling to alternative transport mediums.

Requirements

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment.

  • This is a Top Secret/SCI position with Yankee White IAW DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subjected to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months and any future Cybersecurity Workforce qualification requirements.
  • IAW DoDI 5210.87, Incumbent must be cleared for Category Two Presidential Support Duty based on a "Yankee White" Single Scope Background Investigation.
  • Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards
  • Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs
  • Oral Communication - briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions
  • At least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
  • Experience explaining and advising regarding organizational IT systems upgrades, needs, and initiatives or guides and leads the development of Statements of Requirements, develops strategies, plans and processes to manage and track agency operational requirements.
  • Advises leadership on trends in the IT arena.
  • All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • Prior to reporting for duty the selectee must be found eligible for a DoD Top Secret security clearance with access to Special Compartmented Information (SCI) based upon an Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), AND be approved for Presidential Support Duty in accordance with Department of Defense Directive 5210.55 (Yankee White - Category II, minimum).
  • Individuals occupying positions designated as DSPs are required to meet certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program.
  • The individual selected for this position must obtain and/or maintain a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
  • Individuals who do not meet the applicable SPeD certification requirements must obtain it within two years after the first duty day in this position.
  • Upon appointment to this position, the selectee must also sign a statement acknowledging the SFPC requirements, as a condition to occupy the position, and agree to permit the DoD to access and monitor the certification qualifications associated with this position.
