About The Position

The IT Specialist – MXL Lancaster role serves as the primary on-site IT resource and works closely with IT management and site leadership. This role is responsible for providing reliable operation of end-user computing with hands-on support for desktops, laptops, printers, and network-connected devices, while also managing secure user access to data systems including file shares, SharePoint sites, and site-specific Manufacturing and Quality Control applications. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, coordinating equipment deployments and user access requests, identifying project and request requirements, maintaining accurate asset inventory and supporting the secure handling of business data. The IT Specialist – MXL Lancaster role proactively coordinates and executes IT projects relating to site operations and systems in alignment with IT management and site leadership. The role will also assist with Cybersecurity initiatives across Plaskolite locations. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, good communication and organizational skills and a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality—reflecting Plaskolite’s core values of Integrity and Improvement.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline and equivalent administrative certifications/work experience
  • 10 plus years of progressive experience required
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Workstation/Server operating systems and Microsoft 365
  • Experience in technical support or helpdesk roles requiring end-user support
  • Experience working with manufacturing-based systems is a plus
  • Working knowledge of networking, cabling, and Cybersecurity best practices
  • Strong communication, organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to provide emergency support outside business hours
  • Ability to travel to other local sites as needed

Responsibilities

  • Respond to helpdesk tickets, emails, and walk-up requests to assist employees with hardware, software, and connectivity issues, escalating to IT management as needed.
  • Deploy and configure desktops, laptops, monitors, mobile devices, and peripherals according to company standards and user needs.
  • Lead, coordinate, and execute complex projects including site-related system expansions, upgrades, migrations, cybersecurity enhancements, and system integrations aligned with Plaskolite’s strategic goals.
  • Perform routine maintenance on printers, scanners, and workstations.
  • Ensure equipment is functioning properly and escalate issues when needed.
  • Install approved software applications, security updates and patches, and assist with license tracking and compliance.
  • Track incoming and outgoing hardware, assist with labeling and documentation, and support lifecycle management of IT equipment.
  • Help monitor and investigate system performance issues and report any outages or unusual activity to senior IT staff.
  • Record support activities and solutions in the helpdesk system to ensure consistent service and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in testing and production rollouts of new systems, upgrades, and facility tech refreshes under the direction of senior IT staff.
  • Help educate users on basic cybersecurity practices, system usage policies, and IT procedures.
  • Mentor and train new/Junior staff on support and core administration tasks.
