About The Position

The IT Specialist I role involves troubleshooting user hardware, software, and connectivity issues within an enterprise environment. This includes resolving printer connectivity problems, Outlook and MSOffice issues, password resets, and troubleshooting wireless/wired connectivity. The role also entails basic Active Directory tasks such as account and object creation/modification, working with Security Groups and Organizational Units, and learning basic PowerShell for information gathering. Additionally, the IT Specialist I will perform basic Exchange and/or Office365 tasks like confirming email addresses and updating distribution lists. Responsibilities include managing tickets in Service Now, providing basic break/fix support for end-users, setting up and tearing down accounts and hardware for new and departing employees, and assisting with the IT aspects of company events, including A/V and computer support. Simple documentation is also a key part of the role.

Requirements

  • Experience in Windows environment (window desktop)
  • Experience with hardware troubleshooting
  • Experience with network security
  • Experience with network administration
  • Basic knowledge of network connectivity, protocols and security devices to include VPN troubleshooting
  • Good in-person, phone, and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage expectations
  • Ability to deescalate stressed users/situations
  • Eligibility to work in the country of application (Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid working visa)

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certifications in PC or network-related areas (CompTIA, A+, Network+)

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting of user hardware, software, and connectivity issues in an Enterprise environment

  • Managing folder/file permissions
  • Performing basic Active Directory tasks (account and object creation/modification, working with Security Groups and Organizational Units)
  • Learning basic PowerShell for gathering information
  • Performing basic Exchange and/or Office365 tasks (confirming email addresses, checking and updating distribution lists)
  • Working with tickets in Service Now (updating, assigning, closing, sorting, filtering)
  • Providing basic break/fix support for end-users
  • Setting up accounts and hardware for incoming hires
  • Tearing down accounts and hardware for departing employees
  • Building accounts
  • Imaging and deploying hardware
  • Retrieving hardware
  • Responsible for setup of company events from an IT perspective, including support for A/V and computer requirements
  • Creating simple documentation
  • Being on-call for critical off-hours support on a rotating basis (monthly)
