About The Position

As a Java Lead Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and deployment of a state-of-the-art digital platform. This role involves performing programming and development assignments without close supervision, often tackling the more complex aspects of systems work. You will act as a team lead for development and support groups, providing technical leadership and guidance to other team members. The position requires independent work on complex systems or infrastructure components and drives application development focused on delivering business-valuable features. Maintaining high standards of software quality, identifying areas for growth, mentoring junior developers, and communicating with end-users and internal customers are key aspects of this role. You will lead the development of new functionality and applications on cross-functional teams, perform integration and customer acceptance testing, and participate in technology evaluation. Applying an enterprise-wide view to solutions, promoting standards, and reuse are also expected. This position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates with others, typically working independently with minimal management input. The role is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems and solve them by determining the best course of action within departmental guidelines. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results, participating in brainstorming sessions for new approaches.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher, in Computer science or Electrical engineering or related field is required
10+ years experience of designing and developing software applications in Java.
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in leading Geographically disbursed teams.
Strong Java 17
Backend development is a MUST
RESTful web services
AWS knowledge – IAM,Kinesis, DynamoDB, API stack, SQS, SNS, KMS
Slick – SQL queries
DevOps
High Availability and Reliable Solutions
Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints
Passion for technology and an eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environment

Responsibilities

Competent to perform all programming and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work.
Acts as team leader for development and support groups; provides programming and application/technical leadership, guidance, and assistance to other team members.
Works directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.
Works independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems.
Drives application development focused around delivering business valuable features
Maintains high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
Identifies and encourages areas for growth and improvement within the team.
Mentors junior developers.
Communicates with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness.
Leads development of new functionality and applications on cross-functional teams
Performs integration testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results
Participates in technology evaluation and recommendations.
Applies an enterprise-wide view to solutions to support the adoption of standards and practices and promote reuse.
