About The Position

Scot Forge Company is looking to hire one IT Software Development Intern for the Summer of 2027 in-person at the corporate facility in Spring Grove, IL. This internship will provide exposure to a collaborative IT team supporting a manufacturing environment through software development, integrations, and business applications.

Requirements

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Rising Sophomore or higher at the start of the internship
Programming in an object-oriented language (i.e., C# or Python)
Working with Git-based version control tools
Interfacing with other systems, such as REST APIs or relational databases (for example, Oracle SQL or Microsoft SQL)
Must be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S. without sponsorship
Must be able to pass a 90 day head hair drug test today

Nice To Haves

Designing frontend user interfaces or developing web-based applications
Project scope and design, including data models, system architecture, and task refinement
CI/CD fundamentals, Docker, application packaging, or other deployment concepts
Building APIs or webhooks, including thread-safe or parallel processing where needed
Working with generative AI tools (for example, Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, or Antigravity)

Responsibilities

Participating in the design and development of application backends with integrations to other systems such as REST APIs or webhooks
Building components of business-facing frontend applications for edge, mobile, and web devices
Participating in manufacturing digital-twin projects with the OT and Ignition teams
Working with the ERP development team to re-imagine user experiences from web to mobile platforms
Developing and integrating prompts, skills, and agents for generative AI with applications and systems
