About The Position

The Enterprise Platforms team within Texas Instruments’ Data & Agentic Platform Solutions organization deploys, operates, and continuously improves platforms supporting digital integration, automation, and DevOps capabilities. The IT Site Reliability Engineer serves as the primary technical owner of TI’s Apigee Edge private cloud environment and provides SRE support across a broader portfolio of enterprise automation and DevOps tools. The role combines infrastructure administration, DevOps engineering, and platform reliability. It requires technical expertise in API management operations and collaboration with application development, security, networking, and infrastructure teams to keep supported platforms stable, performant, secure, and scalable. The position also supports adjacent platforms such as CI/CD pipelines, artifact repositories, source control systems, automation orchestration tools, and integration middleware. The engineer owns the Apigee platform lifecycle, including installation, configuration, operations, upgrades, and roadmap input. The role also provides operational support across other platforms, applying SRE practices such as defining SLOs and SLIs, improving observability, maintaining runbooks, responding to incidents, and developing automation and infrastructure-as-code tooling. On-call support for critical incidents outside the normal work schedule is listed as a preferred qualification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Apigee or a similar API management platform.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration, such as RHEL or Rocky Linux.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or automation language: Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with REST API concepts, API lifecycle management, and API security patterns such as OAuth 2.0, API keys, and JWT.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Elastic/ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, TLS/SSL, firewalls, and proxies.
  • Experience supporting or administering at least one DevOps or automation platform beyond Apigee, such as CI/CD, artifact management, or source control.
  • Ability to provide on-call support for critical platform incidents outside the normal work schedule.
  • Apigee Certified API Engineer certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with Apigee Edge components: Management Server, Router, Message Processor, Cassandra, ZooKeeper, Qpid, and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience managing artifact repositories such as JFrog Artifactory or Sonatype Nexus.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Exposure to API mediation patterns, microservices architecture, and event-driven integration.
  • Experience working in ITIL-based environments, including change, incident, and problem management.
  • Prior experience in a semiconductor, manufacturing, or large enterprise IT environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical owner and subject matter expert for TI’s Apigee Edge private cloud platform, overseeing its lifecycle from installation and configuration through operations, upgrades, and roadmap evolution.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Apigee Edge components across development, test, and production environments.
  • Own and improve system monitoring, detect issues early, and implement self-healing solutions where appropriate.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for Apigee incidents, lead root-cause analyses, and drive post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with development teams on API proxy deployment pipelines, policy troubleshooting, and runtime performance optimization.
  • Apply platform security hardening; manage TLS/SSL certificates, OAuth configurations, and role-based access controls; and support alignment with IT security policies and audit requirements.
  • Monitor resource utilization and conduct capacity planning and performance tuning across Apigee components and underlying infrastructure.
  • Own and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures for Apigee components and associated data stores.
  • Manage the technical relationship with Google/Apigee support for escalated issues, product defects, version roadmaps, and advisory services.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations on Apigee platform strategy, including future migration paths to Apigee Hybrid.
  • Provide SRE support for other automation and DevOps platforms in the ITS DevOps Platforms portfolio, potentially including CI/CD, artifact management, source control, integration middleware, and automation orchestration platforms.
  • Apply consistent SRE practices across supported platforms, including defining SLOs and SLIs, building observability dashboards, maintaining runbooks, and driving reliability improvements.
  • Respond to and triage incidents across the broader platform portfolio, coordinating with platform-specific SMEs and infrastructure teams to restore services.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and Infrastructure-as-Code tooling to streamline operations, deployments, and configuration management.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, change records, and knowledge base articles.
  • Collaborate with networking, server infrastructure, application development, and security teams on integrations, troubleshooting, and platform enhancements.
