About The Position

The IT Senior Project Manager will lead all phases of the project lifecycle and system integrator engagement activities for a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI 2.0) initiative. This role requires broad IT infrastructure knowledge, the ability to see the big picture, and ensure seamless delivery. The focus will be on resource and task planning, technical blueprinting, business process design, and vendor coordination within a complex IT environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of business insight and technical proficiency, with the ability to manage day-to-day PM deliverables while also overseeing and delegating tasks. Adaptability and openness to feedback are essential for success in this fast-paced program.

Requirements

  • Broad IT infrastructure knowledge with the ability to see the big picture and ensure no gaps in delivery.
  • Experience managing large IT programs, resource planning, solution blueprinting, implementation planning, and overall end-to-end delivery management.
  • 3+ years of experience in Large-scale IT program/project management in utilities or regulated industries.
  • Experience with AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), smart grid, or large Electric Utility technology and infrastructure projects; AMI 1.0 or 2.0 preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, management of risks/issues, and cross-functional leadership engagement skills.
  • Ability to quickly integrate into a fast-paced, large program, understand the role, absorb information rapidly, and deliver results efficiently.
  • Strong blend of business insight and technical proficiency to bridge the gap between stakeholder needs and technological solutions.
  • Ability to personally execute day-to-day PM deliverables, in addition to overseeing and delegation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of the project lifecycle and system integrator engagement activities, including pre-planning, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure for a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure initiative.
  • Focus on resource and task planning, technical blueprinting, business process design, and vendor coordination within a complex IT environment.
  • Facilitate IT business process mapping and requirements clarification to ensure alignment with functional needs, technical delivery, and IT SI area of responsibility.
  • Prepare, analyze, manage and deliver regular financial reports, tracking expenditures for the program releases including variances and forecasts.
  • Collaborate closely with management and technical teams.
  • Develop a comprehensive resource plan based on technical scope, including roles, skillsets, and effort and cost estimates across workstreams such as integration, data, infrastructure, and testing.
  • Support the development and refinement of a high-level solution blueprint that defines scope, schedule, and budget from a technical lens.
  • Plan and coordinate the Planning & Analyze phases, including solution design validation, technical feasibility reviews, and preparation for Build phase activities.
  • Coordinate project activities across technical and business teams to ensure alignment with milestones and deliverables.
  • Track scope against baseline requirements and support change control process.
  • Document scope changes, assess impacts, and escalate risks to senior leadership as needed ensuring traceability between requirements, design, and deliverables.
  • Maintain clear documentation of financial transactions and project milestones for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Support procurement, vendor management, and contract negotiations related to financial components of the project.
  • Prevent power surges and ensure the right amount of energy is distributed.
  • Operate power-generating equipment and measure power flow with gauges, meters, and charts.
  • Maintain generators, turbines, and other equipment.
