About The Position

The IT Intern will work alongside RML’s Information Technology team to support day-to-day technical operations across the hospital. This role is designed for current college students pursuing degrees in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Engineering, Programming, or related fields who want hands-on experience in a healthcare environment. The internship provides exposure to enterprise systems, service desk operations, device management, and clinical/administrative technology used throughout RML.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a college or university program pursuing a degree in IS, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security, Engineering, Programming, or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and common productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft 365).
  • Strong interest in technology support and IS operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with helpdesk or customer service environments.
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals (IP addressing, Wi-Fi, basic troubleshooting).
  • Exposure to Active Directory, device imaging, or ticketing systems.
  • Coursework in cybersecurity, systems administration, or software support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with responding to IT support tickets and helpdesk requests.
  • Diagnose and resolve common hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Provide end-user support for computers, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
  • Support the setup, imaging, and deployment of Windows workstations and laptops.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment inventory and tracking assets.
  • Participate in lifecycle activities such as device upgrades, replacements, and decommissioning.
  • Help monitor system performance, connectivity, and availability.
  • Assist with user account creation, permission updates, and onboarding tasks.
  • Support routine maintenance activities under the guidance of senior IT staff.
  • Update documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with cybersecurity initiatives such as phishing awareness, MFA rollout, or audit readiness.
  • Participate in IT improvement projects—device cleanup, system migrations, or infrastructure updates.
