About The Position

Castle Biosciences Inc. is growing, and we are looking to hire an IT, Security Engineer II working from our Scottsdale, AZ office location with a start date on or before July 15, 2026. A typical day for a Security Engineer II involves managing and supporting the security posture of Castle Biosciences' IT environment. Responsibilities include serving as an escalation point for SNOC and Help Desk security-related issues. The role begins with monitoring and reviewing security dashboards, alerts, and threat activity, followed by engineering and project-based work. Approximately 60% of the role is focused on security projects, system improvements, and troubleshooting complex security and network-related issues. Daily activities include designing, implementing, and managing security controls across on-premises and cloud environments; monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities; and supporting compliance and security governance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in information security engineering, security operations, or cybersecurity infrastructure.
  • One or more of the following certifications or equivalent: CompTIA Security+; GIAC (GSEC or similar); Cisco CCNA Security or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM platforms, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management tools.
  • Experience configuring and supporting VPNs, secure network connectivity, and hybrid cloud security solutions.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and supporting the security posture of Castle Biosciences' IT environment.
  • Serving as an escalation point for SNOC and Help Desk security-related issues.
  • Monitoring and reviewing security dashboards, alerts, and threat activity.
  • Engineering and project-based work, focusing on security projects, system improvements, and troubleshooting complex security and network-related issues (approximately 60% of the role).
  • Designing, implementing, and managing security controls across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Supporting compliance and security governance initiatives.
  • Participating in a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Performing occasional after-hours work as needed.
