About The Position

Castle Biosciences Inc. is growing, and we are looking to hire an IT, Security Engineer II working from our Scottsdale, AZ office location with a start date on or before July 15, 2026. A typical day for a Security Engineer II involves managing and supporting the security posture of Castle Biosciences' IT environment. Responsibilities include serving as an escalation point for SNOC and Help Desk security-related issues. The role begins with monitoring and reviewing security dashboards, alerts, and threat activity, followed by engineering and project-based work. Approximately 60% of the role is focused on security projects, system improvements, and troubleshooting complex security and network-related issues. Daily activities include designing, implementing, and managing security controls across on-premises and cloud environments; monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities; and supporting compliance and security governance initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in information security engineering, security operations, or cybersecurity infrastructure.
One or more of the following certifications or equivalent: CompTIA Security+; GIAC (GSEC or similar); Cisco CCNA Security or equivalent.
Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM platforms, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management tools.
Experience configuring and supporting VPNs, secure network connectivity, and hybrid cloud security solutions.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Managing and supporting the security posture of Castle Biosciences' IT environment.
Serving as an escalation point for SNOC and Help Desk security-related issues.
Monitoring and reviewing security dashboards, alerts, and threat activity.
Engineering and project-based work, focusing on security projects, system improvements, and troubleshooting complex security and network-related issues (approximately 60% of the role).
Designing, implementing, and managing security controls across on-premises and cloud environments.
Monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
Supporting compliance and security governance initiatives.
Participating in a rotating on-call schedule.
Performing occasional after-hours work as needed.
