About The Position

Castle Biosciences is seeking an IT, Security Engineer II to join their team in Scottsdale, AZ. This role involves managing and supporting the security posture of the company's IT environment, serving as an escalation point for security-related issues, and performing engineering and project-based work. The position requires approximately 60% of the role to be focused on security projects, system improvements, and troubleshooting complex security and network-related issues. Daily activities include designing, implementing, and managing security controls across on-premises and cloud environments; monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities; and supporting compliance and security governance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in information security engineering, security operations, or cybersecurity infrastructure.
  • One or more of the following or equivalent certifications: CompTIA Security+; GIAC (GSEC or similar); Cisco CCNA Security or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM platforms, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management tools.
  • Experience configuring and supporting VPNs, secure network connectivity, and hybrid cloud security solutions.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must not require sponsorship for H-1B visas, OPT, or employment-related visas.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and supporting the security posture of Castle Biosciences' IT environment.
  • Serving as an escalation point for SNOC and Help Desk security-related issues.
  • Monitoring and reviewing security dashboards, alerts, and threat activity.
  • Engineering and project-based work, with approximately 60% of the role focused on security projects, system improvements, and troubleshooting complex security and network-related issues.
  • Designing, implementing, and managing security controls across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Supporting compliance and security governance initiatives.
  • Participating in a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Performing occasional after-hours work as needed.
