About The Position

TEKsystems is seeking an IT Security Analyst to safeguard mission-critical infrastructure for the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC). The analyst will work directly with the federal Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and contractor technical staff to maintain a strong security posture, continuous Authority to Operate (ATO), and compliance with federal cybersecurity standards while supporting operational requirements. The position is fully onsite at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.

The role supports Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation and processes, security audits and annual Assessment and Authorization (A&A), vulnerability scanning and system hardening, Security Impact Analyses, log monitoring, and communication of security requirements and risks. The analyst will maintain relevant documentation and help technical teams remediate findings to sustain continuous ATO.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or equivalent.
• Minimum Security+ certification.
• At least 5 years of progressive cybersecurity experience, with a strong focus on federal Information Assurance and the Risk Management Framework.
• Experience working within federal agency guidelines, such as NOAA, DOC, GAO, or OIG, and navigating internal and external audit cycles.
• Practical understanding of NIST SP 800-53 Revision 4/5 security controls and the seven-step RMF process.
• Ability to author and defend technical artifacts, including SSPs, RARs, and POA&Ms.
• Proficiency translating DISA STIGs and CIS Benchmarks into technical requirements for operating systems, databases, and network devices.
• Advanced experience operating enterprise scanning tools and analyzing their data, specifically Tenable Nessus, SecurityCenter, or ACAS.
• Experience using SIEM platforms and security dashboards to monitor logs, correlate events, and isolate anomalies.
• Ability to conduct technical Security Impact Analyses to assess how proposed system, hardware, or software changes affect the security baseline.
• Strong technical knowledge and ability to act as a liaison between IT personnel and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of implementing security controls on Windows and Linux systems in onsite and cloud environments, including AWS and Microsoft Azure.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to work onsite at Stennis Space Center.

Responsibilities

• Support the ISSO in maintaining RMF artifacts, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports (RARs), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
• Lead technical teams through internal and external security audits and the annual Assessment and Authorization process; gather evidence, document audit paths, and drive remediation actions.
• Conduct routine vulnerability scans using enterprise tools such as Tenable Nessus or ACAS, and guide technical teams in hardening operating systems, databases, and network devices to DISA STIGs and CIS Benchmarks.
• Perform Security Impact Analyses for proposed hardware, software, and configuration changes to evaluate risk and compliance with NIST SP 800-53 controls.
• Monitor system logs to identify, isolate, and mitigate potential threats across hybrid infrastructure.
• Translate security controls into actionable requirements for IT personnel and communicate risk and compliance status to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
