About The Position

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) is seeking an IT Project Specialist to join its innovative technology team. This role is crucial in revolutionizing public health IT by aligning technology solutions with the DOHMH mission. The Division of Information Technology focuses on prioritizing resource use and deploying innovations to enhance agency operations, staff productivity, and efficiency. The Bureau of Technology Strategy & Project Management specifically provides business analysis and IT project management services to define and deliver IT solutions that meet program needs. This includes conducting business analyses, recommending IT solutions, leading IT governance, managing technology contracting and procurement, implementing products, and providing Level 2 product support.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
  • An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, and budgets.
  • Build and lead cross-functional project teams.
  • Provide guidance and motivation to team members and stakeholders.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively address issues to keep projects on track.
  • Maintain clear and concise communication with project stakeholders, including senior management, team members, and external partners.
  • Provide regular project updates and reports.
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and are aligned with business goals.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenses, making necessary adjustments to keep projects within budget.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and contractors as needed.
