About The Position

Tripoint Solutions is seeking an experienced IT Portfolio Manager to support an upcoming federal government contract. This role ensures that multiple IT projects and programs are aligned with organizational goals, deliver measurable business value, and optimize resource allocation. The ideal candidate will combine strong project management expertise with strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and portfolio governance experience. This is a hybrid role requiring candidates to reside in D.C., Virginia, or Maryland, with one day per week on-site in Washington, D.C.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of IT project or program management experience, with at least 2 years overseeing multiple projects or portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of IT project lifecycle, methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall), and portfolio management frameworks.
  • Proficiency with portfolio management tools such as Microsoft Project Online, Planview, Clarity, Jira Align, or similar.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic oversight with attention to project-level details.
  • USA Citizenship is required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust.

Nice To Haves

  • Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), PMP, or PgMP certification.
  • Experience in enterprise IT environments, digital transformation, cloud migration, or large-scale application development.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial forecasting, and ROI analysis for IT initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the IT project portfolio, including prioritization, resource allocation, risk assessment, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to project managers to ensure successful project delivery across the portfolio.
  • Develop portfolio dashboards, KPIs, and reporting to track performance, benefits realization, and ROI.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to evaluate project proposals and determine strategic fit and resource requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate portfolio-level risks, dependencies, and conflicts.
  • Ensure adherence to governance processes, standards, and best practices across all IT projects.
  • Facilitate portfolio review meetings, steering committee sessions, and executive briefings.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize portfolio management processes.
