About The Position

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering's IT group is hiring an IT Project Manager for its Eden Prairie, Minnesota office. The position plans, coordinates, and executes client-facing IT/OT infrastructure and technical services projects from initiation through completion. The project manager independently manages multiple concurrent projects, coordinating schedules, budgets, resources, deliverables, and client expectations while working with engineers, technical leads, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders. The role is responsible for project controls and reporting, including schedules, financials, resource utilization, risks, dependencies, proposals, estimates, and change orders. The project manager proactively identifies delivery challenges, communicates scope and schedule impacts, resolves issues, and escalates appropriately while partnering with technical teams to deliver project commitments. The position supports project closeout and helps improve project management processes and consistency across the IT/OT project delivery organization. The work environment may include offices, data centers, and industrial or plant-floor locations, depending on project needs. Occasional travel to client sites, project locations, and company facilities is anticipated at approximately 10–20%.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • 3–5 years of progressive project management experience, preferably in IT/OT, IT infrastructure, networking, systems integration, industrial automation, or a related technical services environment.
  • Experience managing projects from planning through execution and closure, including schedules, deliverables, stakeholder coordination, and reporting.
  • Experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects and managing competing priorities, dependencies, deadlines, and resource constraints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including leading meetings, communicating with clients, facilitating discussions, and providing proactive status updates.
  • Ability to identify project risks and issues, drive action-item resolution, manage escalations, and communicate schedule or scope impacts before they affect delivery.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills; ability to work independently and maintain accountability for project outcomes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, shifting priorities, and evolving client needs while maintaining effective project controls and communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing IT infrastructure, enterprise networking, hardware deployment, data center, systems implementation, or industrial technology projects.
  • Familiarity with networking and infrastructure concepts such as LAN/WAN, switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, network connectivity, cybersecurity, or industrial control environments.
  • Experience with IT/OT systems, manufacturing, industrial facilities, critical infrastructure, or other technically complex client environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Planner, Visio, SharePoint, OneNote, Salesforce, or similar project management, collaboration, and business systems.
  • Experience with project budgeting, labor-hour tracking, forecasting, resource capacity planning, proposal development, project estimates, procurement coordination, and change management.
  • Experience working directly with external clients and coordinating delivery across multiple technical teams, departments, or business units.
  • CAPM, PMP, or another recognized project management certification, or willingness to pursue certification.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage concurrent IT/OT infrastructure and technical services projects from initiation through planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, deliverables, resource plans, and project documentation using Microsoft Project and other tracking tools.
  • Coordinate engineers, technical leads, project teams, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to keep activities and deliverables aligned with commitments.
  • Lead project meetings, set agendas, document decisions, assign action items, and follow up on tasks, dependencies, and commitments.
  • Monitor progress against scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables; identify delays, resource constraints, and risks; and develop mitigation plans.
  • Maintain RAID logs, action registers, decision logs, change documentation, and other project controls.
  • Communicate project status, milestones, risks, issues, resource constraints, and schedule impacts to clients, technical teams, and leadership.
  • Manage client expectations regarding scope, schedule, deliverables, resource availability, and changes; facilitate stakeholder discussions to resolve conflicts and align priorities.
  • Coordinate resource planning and capacity management with technical leads and management, identifying scheduling conflicts, competing priorities, and resource needs.
  • Monitor financial performance, including labor hours, budgets, estimates, forecasts, and resource utilization; identify variances and communicate impacts.
  • Support proposal development, project estimates, scope definition, change orders, and related commercial documentation; evaluate proposed changes for schedule, resource, and financial impacts.
  • Coordinate procurement, vendor follow-up, equipment readiness, and other project dependencies as required.
  • Identify gaps in project information, technical inputs, approvals, and deliverables; assign owners and due dates and drive resolution.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to understand project requirements, dependencies, and constraints without taking responsibility for engineering decisions outside the project manager's expertise.
  • Maintain project documentation and collaboration spaces using SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, OneNote, and applicable platforms.
  • Provide management with consistent reporting on schedule health, budget status, resource requirements, risks, issues, and upcoming milestones.
  • Drive closeout, including deliverable confirmation, documentation completion, financial reconciliation, lessons learned, and stakeholder signoff.
