About The Position

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering's IT group is hiring an IT Project Manager for its Eden Prairie, Minnesota office. The role plans, coordinates, and executes client-facing IT/OT infrastructure and technical services projects from initiation through completion. The project manager independently oversees multiple projects and coordinates schedules, budgets, resources, deliverables, and client expectations. The position works closely with engineers, technical leads, clients, vendors, and stakeholders to drive execution, resolve issues, manage competing priorities, and maintain accountability for project commitments. It includes schedule and financial oversight, risk and dependency management, support for proposals and change orders, and proactive project status reporting. The role also coordinates procurement and project closeout, maintains project controls and documentation, and identifies opportunities to improve project delivery processes. The work environment may include an office, data center, and industrial or plant floor, depending on project needs. Occasional travel to client sites, project locations, and company facilities is anticipated at approximately 10–20%.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • 3–5 years of progressive project management experience, preferably in IT/OT, IT infrastructure, networking, systems integration, industrial automation, or a related technical services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from planning through execution and closure, including schedules, deliverables, stakeholder coordination, and project reporting.
  • Experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects and managing competing priorities, dependencies, deadlines, and resource constraints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including leading meetings, communicating with clients, facilitating discussions, and providing proactive status updates.
  • Ability to identify project risks and issues, drive action-item resolution, manage escalations, and communicate schedule or scope impacts before they affect delivery.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and maintain accountability for project outcomes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing IT infrastructure, enterprise networking, hardware deployment, data center, systems implementation, or industrial technology projects.
  • Familiarity with networking and infrastructure concepts, including LAN/WAN, switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, network connectivity, cybersecurity, or industrial control environments.
  • Experience working with IT/OT systems, manufacturing, industrial facilities, critical infrastructure, or other technically complex client environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Planner, Visio, SharePoint, OneNote, Salesforce, or similar project management, collaboration, and business systems.
  • Experience with project budgeting, labor-hour tracking, forecasting, resource capacity planning, proposal development, project estimates, procurement coordination, and change management.
  • Experience working directly with external clients and coordinating delivery across multiple technical teams, departments, or business units.
  • CAPM, PMP, or other recognized project management certification, or willingness to pursue certification.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, shifting priorities, and evolving client needs while maintaining effective project controls and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage multiple concurrent IT/OT infrastructure and technical services projects from initiation through planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, deliverables, resource plans, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate engineers, technical leads, project teams, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to keep activities and deliverables aligned with commitments.
  • Lead project meetings, prepare agendas, document decisions, assign action items, and drive follow-through on tasks, dependencies, and commitments.
  • Monitor progress against scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables; identify risks, delays, and resource constraints; and develop mitigation plans.
  • Maintain RAID logs, action registers, decision logs, change documentation, and other project controls.
  • Communicate project status, milestones, risks, issues, resource constraints, and schedule impacts to clients, technical teams, and leadership.
  • Manage client expectations regarding scope, schedule, deliverables, resource availability, and changes; facilitate discussions to resolve conflicts and align stakeholders.
  • Coordinate resource planning and capacity management with technical leads and management, identifying conflicts, competing priorities, and resource needs.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including labor hours, budgets, estimates, forecasts, and resource utilization; identify variances or potential overruns and communicate impacts.
  • Support proposal development, project estimates, scope definition, change orders, and related commercial documentation; evaluate proposed changes for schedule, resource, and financial impacts.
  • Coordinate procurement activities, vendor follow-up, equipment readiness, and other project dependencies as needed.
  • Identify gaps in project information, technical inputs, approvals, and deliverables; establish owners and due dates and drive resolution.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to understand project requirements, dependencies, and delivery constraints without taking responsibility for engineering decisions outside the project manager's expertise.
  • Maintain project documentation and collaboration spaces using applicable platforms.
  • Provide management with consistent reporting on schedule health, budget status, resource requirements, risks, issues, and upcoming milestones.
