About The Position

The Arizona Game and Fish Department is seeking an IT Project Management Supervisor to guide their Project Management Office (PMO) and oversee the full lifecycle of their information system development. This role involves leading high-performing teams, navigating complex system architectures, and delivering impactful technology solutions. The supervisor will mentor staff, resolve project conflicts, and ensure initiatives align with enterprise architecture and departmental goals. The position is based in Phoenix, AZ.

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years in IT project management.
  • At least 3+ years in systems administration or a comparable technical role.
  • Demonstrated history of leading IT teams and managing the full lifecycle of information system development.
  • Deep understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies, SDLC, information security technologies, and enterprise-level architecture.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to synthesize feedback into actionable plans.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and train PMO staff, setting high standards for performance and professional growth.
  • Oversee information system development from inception to deployment, managing schedules, sprints, and milestones for projects of all scales.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Architect to define technology platform goals and ensure all projects adhere to the enterprise architecture plan.
  • Develop monitoring methods for project progress, take proactive corrective actions, and track all project documentation and costs meticulously.
  • Leverage internal and external networks to solve complex problems and maintain open communication across multiple functional teams.
  • Manage interrelationship among various internal and external organization functions regarding assigned projects.
  • Develop methods to monitor project process and take corrective action.
  • Ensure that the projects being developed align with the enterprise architecture plan for the Information Systems Branch.
  • Supervise staff by defining and establishing schedules, setting priorities, providing support/direction and dealing with administrative issues as needed.
  • Train staff on operational procedures and troubleshooting.
  • Coach team members on performance and complete performance evaluations.
  • Define immediate and long term goals for technology platforms with the Enterprise Architect.
  • Set the priorities for the Project Management Office, and track the operational plan to ensure the alignment of the goals with the priorities of the Information Technology Branch and the Department.
  • Solve project conflict, keep open communications from multiple teams to identify solutions, create and leverage networks of people to solve problems efficiently.
  • Track all project and activity documentation.
  • Ensure that each phase is being documented correctly.
  • Keep track of schedules, sprints, and milestones.
  • Make suggestions proactively in an effort to meet the goad dates of the project.
  • Keep the Information Technology Manager of IT Systems and PMO updated with project and documentation progress.
  • Assist with Information Technology policies and procedures documentation and managing, monitoring and tracking all project related costs and other relevant activities performed by the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
