IT Project Engineer

The Proactive Technology Group•Nassau, NY

About The Position

The IT Project Engineer joins the Projects team, working from the company’s Greenvale, NY office and supporting client environments across Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island. Reporting to the IT Project Manager, the engineer independently leads small projects, partners with the Project Manager and service team on larger engagements, and serves as the technical point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle. The role calls for hands-on experience designing, configuring, and deploying technology. The engineer delivers projects from kickoff through closeout, executes technical plans and scopes, contributes technical recommendations, identifies risks and dependencies, and coordinates with vendors, ISPs, and client stakeholders. Project work includes configuring and deploying Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server, Azure, firewalls, switches, and wireless networks. Examples of engagements include Microsoft 365 and email migrations, SharePoint and tenant-to-tenant migrations, server-to-cloud and Azure migrations, network builds and replacements, endpoint deployments, security and compliance implementations, and office moves or closures. The role also requires creating technical documentation, as-built diagrams, and runbooks in IT Glue; handing completed projects off to the service team; and using Halo PSA for project tasks, time entry, and work tracking, as well as Ninja RMM for remote access, deployment, and endpoint management. The position is full-time and onsite in Greenvale, NY, with approximately 50% travel to client sites. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with after-hours and weekend work as needed for cutovers and maintenance windows. The stated annual salary range is $75,000–$95,000.
