Under the supervision of the IT Professional I, the IT Professional Trainees I, II, and III serve as the first line of client communication and provide support to end users and departments across Eureka County. These positions offer a progressive learning path designed to build technical expertise from foundational IT support and administrative tasks at the Trainee I level, to intermediate system administration and project assistance at the Trainee II level, and culminating in advanced IT responsibilities and security support at the Trainee III level. Trainees assist with workstation setup, system maintenance, user support, VoIP and network troubleshooting, account and email management, and digital communications. As they advance, Trainees take on greater responsibilities in IT systems management, complex project support, mentoring junior staff, and supporting security and infrastructure initiatives. These roles also play a key part in managing the County’s social media presence, including content creation, stakeholder coordination, and engagement monitoring. All levels require strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of job duties. This career development track prepares individuals for full professional roles within the County’s IT department by combining hands-on experience, training, and exposure to a broad range of IT functions.
