About The Position

Texas Sports Academy is seeking an IT Operations Specialist based in Austin for a 3-month contract role. The primary responsibility is to manage the full lifecycle of the school's MacBook Neo fleet. This includes receiving, configuring, inventorying, shipping devices to campuses across Texas, and providing technical support to students experiencing laptop issues. The role requires hands-on operational and logistics work, strong attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills. Familiarity with AI tools is a plus.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience deploying and managing macOS devices at scale, including imaging, MDM configuration, and standardized deployment workflows.
  • Comfort with hands-on work, including receiving shipments, lifting boxes, organizing inventory, and preparing outbound packages.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly and patiently with students and parents.
  • Attention to detail for consistent and accurate record-keeping across inventory, shipments, and device assignments.
  • Must be Austin-based and able to commute to the worksite.
  • U.S. work authorization required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Perplexity Computer.
  • K-12 or 1:1 Device Program Experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Apple Business Manager, Jamf, Kandji, Mosyle, or a comparable MDM platform.
  • Scripting or automation experience.
  • Experience using logistics platforms such as ShipStation or EasyPost.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and prepare MacBook Neo devices for use by installing standard software, applying MDM profiles, configuring user accounts, and enforcing security settings.
  • Manage inbound shipments, inspect units, log serial numbers, and maintain organized inventory records.
  • Pack and ship laptops to schools, coaches, and staff across Texas, coordinating pickups, tracking shipments, and resolving delivery issues.
  • Process returned, damaged, or end-of-life devices, including diagnosing issues, wiping/reimaging devices, and retiring old equipment.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for students experiencing laptop issues, resolving problems directly, guiding families, and escalating hardware repairs.
  • Maintain a complete and accurate device tracking system, including assignment records, device status, and lifecycle history.
