IT Network Student Assistant
About The Position
Within the Division of Information Technology, the Network team is seeking a highly motivated student assistant to support staff with tasks involving network equipment such as network switches, routers, UPS, etc. Under direct supervision, Student Assistant(s) perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized, in a variety of positions that typically require the use of manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skill. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
- Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
- In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
- Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work.
- Ability to follow oral instructions.
- Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels.
- Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
Nice To Haves
- Familiar with computers in Windows, OSX, mobile devices, and tablets.
- Detailed-oriented and willing to learn network and technology.
- Ability to lift 50lbs equipment as needed to help equipment installation.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Responsibilities
- Support staff with tasks involving network equipment such as network switches, routers, UPS, etc.
- Perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized.
- Utilize manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skills.
- Assist with installing network equipment such as network switch, UPS, router, firewalls, servers, and telephone.
- Work with network cables with Cat5E/Cat 6 and fiber cables.
