About The Position

The IT Network Specialist provides hands-on information technology and network support throughout Huntington Place. Reporting to the IT Manager, the role maintains the facility’s network infrastructure, supports technology systems, and ensures reliable connectivity for internal operations, clients, vendors, and events. The specialist serves as a technical resource for network architecture, system performance, disaster recovery planning, and user support, and provides operational support in the IT Manager’s absence. The position requires managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, event-driven environment. The role includes network administration and infrastructure maintenance; system monitoring, recovery, backup, and disaster recovery; customer and user support; vendor and service provider coordination; and installation and support of cabling, voice, data, wireless, and telecommunications systems. The position works throughout a large convention center in office, mechanical, telecommunications, and event environments and is 100% onsite in Detroit, Michigan.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in information technology and network administration.
Strong technical aptitude and knowledge of networking technologies, servers, personal computers, wireless systems, and voice/data communications.
Experience with network troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and infrastructure support.
Familiarity with web hosting, telecommunications systems, and network security principles.
Strong analytical, organizational, and planning abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work onsite at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan.
Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet using ladders and lifts.
Ability to pass a confined space fitness evaluation.

Nice To Haves

Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft, or similar certifications.
Experience supporting enterprise network environments.

Responsibilities

Analyze network requirements and contribute to the design, integration, and implementation of network architecture.
Maintain network hardware and software, including servers, network devices, peripherals, terminals, and cabling infrastructure.
Monitor network stability, utilization, and performance.
Install, configure, test, and support software and hardware upgrades.
Monitor systems performance and initiate recovery actions following outages or system failures.
Manage backup, storage, retrieval, and computer operation scheduling functions.
Coordinate third-party maintenance and support for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services.
Develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery plans and procedures.
Provide technical support to internal and external customers, respond to technology requests, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Train users on network administration, office productivity applications, and technology best practices.
Coordinate with departments to understand and support operational technology needs.
Develop and maintain relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
Work with consultants to ensure technology platforms support business objectives and operational requirements.
Evaluate network hardware and software capabilities and recommend improvements.
Route, install, terminate, and test network cabling throughout the facility.
Support voice, data, wireless, and telecommunications systems.
Assist with technology infrastructure deployments for events and facility operations.
Provide operational support in the absence of the IT Manager.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
