About The Position

The IT Network Administrator supports the Community Food Bank’s (CFB’s) mission by ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operation of all network systems across multiple sites. This position is responsible for administering, securing, standardizing and improving multi-site network and communication systems utilizing change control and proactive monitoring systems. The IT Network Administrator is the primary person responsible for maintaining uptime for critical systems that enable food acquisition, distribution, and community services.

Requirements

  • Five (5)+ years of progressively responsible experience in network administration in a multi-site or enterprise environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration or a related field.
  • Demonstrated administration experience with network hardware (firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points) and structured cabling.
  • Experience administering and maintaining Microsoft 365, Azure, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License with a clean driving record; ability to travel to CFB locations.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, LAN/WAN environments, routing, switching, and wireless technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.
  • Experience managing and supporting network devices (e.g., Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or Ubiquiti).
  • Experience with VPN setup and troubleshooting in multi-site environments as well as remote access situations.
  • Experience managing cybersecurity principles, network segmentation, and endpoint protection.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving network and hardware issues quickly and accurately.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and project-tracking skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to support collaboration across departments and with external vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse economic, social, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Network Infrastructure: Installation, configuration, and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points supporting LAN/WAN and multi-site environments.
  • Network Protocols & Configuration: TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and routing principles used to maintain secure and reliable connectivity.
  • Network Monitoring & Management: Use of centralized tools such as Meraki Dashboard, FortiManager, or Unifi Controller to monitor performance, deploy updates, and manage configurations.
  • Security & Access Control: Implementation of firewall rules, ACLs, VPN security, and network segmentation in alignment with cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Wireless Systems: Deployment and optimization of enterprise Wi-Fi networks, including SSID management, authentication, and traffic prioritization.
  • Server & Directory Integration: Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy for authentication, permissions, and network resource management.
  • Cloud Connectivity: Support hybrid integrations between on-premise systems and Microsoft 365/Azure environments for secure remote and inter-site access.
  • Disaster Recovery & Continuity: Maintain redundancy and failover configurations; participate in disaster-recovery planning and documentation to ensure uptime for critical systems.
  • Structured Cabling & Physical Layer: Install, label, and maintain network cabling and equipment to meet TIA/EIA standards and ensure safe, organized installations.
  • Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration records, and change logs; communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Acts and operates with a high degree of independence and servers as the IT Director’s primary technical resource for network and core M365 administration.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Fortinet NSE, Microsoft Certified (Azure Fundamentals or M365 Fundamentals), or equivalent network or cloud certifications demonstrating technical proficiency.
  • Experience with enterprise network management and security platforms, such as Meraki, Unifi, Fortinet, Cisco, or comparable systems used to support multi-site operations.
  • Familiarity with business applications commonly used in food bank environments, including distribution/warehouse management, customer relationship management, or financial systems.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Administers, supports and maintains network hardware and software including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, cameras, and cabling.
  • Actively monitors network performance to proactively identify issues, remediate before operational impact, optimize reliability, and maintain up-time across all CFB sites.
  • Provides network support for help desk tickets and escalations from IT Support Technicians.
  • Manages network security through configuration of VLANs, firewalls, access controls, and intrusion prevention tools.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots connectivity for VoIP phones, printers, and connected warehouse systems such as handheld scanners and tablets.
  • Manages on-prem, cloud and hybrid network environments and integration, including Entra ID, Multi-Factor Authentication, Security within Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
  • Primary point of contact with vendors, internet service providers, and contractors to install or repair network components and services.
  • Documents network diagrams, equipment configurations, and maintenance procedures to support consistency and disaster recovery planning.
  • Primary responsibility for network expansion projects for new facilities, partner locations, and system upgrades.
  • Collaborates closely with the IT Director, IT Support Technicians, and Facilities team to ensure seamless technology operations in offices, warehouses, and distribution environments.
  • Ensures compliance with CFB’s safety, data security, and confidentiality policies, as well as applicable local/state regulations.
  • Contributes to IT documentation, SOPs, and the internal knowledgebase; recommend improvements to enhance performance, reliability, security, and user experience.
  • Travels between CFB sites (Tucson, Nogales, Green Valley, Amado, Willcox) as needed to support network and system needs.
  • Performs after-hours or weekend maintenance and responds to network emergencies as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
