About The Position

The Denver Public Library (DPL) is seeking an IT Manager to lead its Infrastructure division. This role serves as the primary technical subject matter expert and operational leader, responsible for the stability, security, and growth of core technology systems. The IT Manager will oversee and design essential systems including servers, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, endpoint management, and identity and access management. This position acts as the team's technical escalation point, owning design, maintenance, standards, and strategy across all 28 library locations to ensure seamless and reliable service. The role also involves leading and empowering high-performing teams, designing roadmaps, setting priorities, and aligning IT technology with the library's mission. Responsibilities include managing the end-to-end talent lifecycle, representing the division in vendor negotiations, and contributing to budgeting and contract management.

Requirements

  • Ability to act as the division's technical subject matter expert and escalation point for virtualization architecture, networking, cybersecurity, identity and access management, and endpoint management.
  • Designs core infrastructure in a hybrid environment including data strategy and disaster recovery (Windows, SQL, Linux).
  • Ability to oversee network design and maintenance across 28 locations.
  • Ability to oversee hybrid identity: Active Directory, Entra ID, MFA, Google Workspace, SSO.
  • Ability to develop goals, document performance, and formally evaluate staff.
  • Ability to transfer expertise through mentoring, cross-training, documentation, and professional development planning.
  • Ability to maintain standards, runbooks, and recovery procedures.
  • Ability to represent the division with vendors; provides budget and contract input.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional level information technology work at the type and level of a senior or full performance professional.
  • One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.

Responsibilities

  • Actively cultivate team growth through mentoring, cross-training, and professional development planning.
  • Represent the division in vendor negotiations.
  • Contribute key input on budgeting and contract management.
