About The Position

The IT Manager will provide support and direction for IT systems Support Specialist, ensuring tickets are addressed timely and SLAs are met. This role serves as the primary liaison between hospital departments, remote clinic departments, management company, the health system, and executive leadership. The IT Manager will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of workflows within the EMR system, evaluating IT workflows and recommending system enhancements to improve efficiency, safety, and documentation quality. They will partner with nursing, physicians, ancillary services, and operational leaders to ensure technology supports clinical practice and ensure compliance with regulatory standards including CMS, Joint Commission, SOX, and applicable state requirements. The role also involves liaising with the management company and health systems to ensure alignment with corporate and EMR system projects and initiatives, leading clinical technology and informatics projects from planning through implementation and post-go-live optimization, developing project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. The IT Manager will track project milestones, risks, and deliverables, communicate progress to executive leadership, and facilitate change management strategies. Additionally, they will identify opportunities to improve documentation efficiency and IT decision support, monitor system usage and performance metrics, collaborate with clinical teams to integrate evidence-based practices into the EHR, and lead initiatives to improve clinical documentation, order sets, and clinical decision support alerts. The role includes leading the development, design, and maintenance of clinical and operational dashboards, utilizing reporting platforms and analytics tools associated with EMR, developing automated reports and dashboards for leadership, partnering with leaders to define data requirements and performance indicators, translating needs into data visualization and reporting structures, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, supporting regulatory reporting, performing periodic security risk assessments, assisting in the development of executive-level dashboards, and collaborating with analytics and IT teams to improve data extraction and reporting automation. The IT Manager will also support clinical informatics education and training programs, onboarding and competency validation, provide subject matter expertise to EMR super users, and develop educational materials. Finally, they will support quality, analytics, and operational teams for accurate data capture and reporting, support performance improvement initiatives, and support clinical and regulatory departments with reporting and improvement initiatives. Leadership responsibilities include providing oversight for IT Support Specialist, strengthening collaboration between the management company and health system, promoting collaboration between IT and clinical teams, supporting strategic initiatives, influencing cross-functional groups, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and user engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Health Information Management, Data Analytics, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • 3+ years of experience with Epic or other enterprise EHR systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience.
  • Experience developing or managing reporting dashboards and clinical data analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated experience managing clinical technology or IT projects
  • Experience working with business intelligence and reporting platforms (e.g., Epic reporting tools, SQL-based systems, or enterprise analytics dashboards).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, or related field preferred.
  • Current RN license preferred (if clinically focused).
  • Informatics certification preferred such as: ANCC Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS).

  • Partner with clinical, operational, and quality leaders to define data requirements and performance indicators.
  • Translate clinical and operational needs into meaningful data visualization and reporting structures.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency of data used in reports and dashboards.
  • Support regulatory, quality, and accreditation reporting requirements through development of standardized reporting tools.
  • In collaboration with the management company and health system, performs periodic security risk assessments/testing (i.e. vulnerability and penetration testing) and conducts related ongoing compliance monitoring activities in coordination with Security Consultants
  • Assist in the development of executive-level dashboards used by leadership teams to monitor performance, patient outcomes, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with analytics and IT teams to improve data extraction, reporting automation, and performance monitoring.
  • In collaboration with hospital leadership, supports clinical informatics education and ongoing training programs for clinical staff.
  • In collaboration with hospital leadership, supports onboarding and competency validation related to the electronic health record and reporting tools.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to EMR super users and department champions.
  • Develop educational materials, workflow guides, and system best practices.
