IT Manager

AltruistLos Angeles, CA
$136,000 - $181,000Hybrid

About The Position

Altruist is seeking an IT Manager to lead its Information Technology function. This senior-most IT role at the company involves owning identity management, device lifecycle, helpdesk operations, audit compliance, vendor relationships, and managing a team of engineers across four offices. The role reports directly to the Sr. Director of Engineering and is a peer to Engineering Managers. This position is not a traditional IT management role; Altruist treats IT as an engineering discipline with roadmaps, OKRs, architecture decisions, and a career ladder. The IT Manager will be responsible for writing Okta Workflows, building n8n automations, participating in audit evidence reviews, and hiring, developing, and managing their team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical credibility and management clarity. The role is hybrid, requiring four days per week in the Culver City office.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 1 year in a management or senior technical lead role in a fast-paced tech or fintech environment.
  • Okta/Auth0 administration at scale: SSO/SCIM integrations, Okta Workflows, lifecycle automation, and group management.
  • MDM proficiency with Kaseya VSA, Jamf, or Intune: device enrollment, remote management, and policy enforcement.
  • Networking fundamentals: VLANs, VPN configuration, TCP/IP, Meraki or equivalent.
  • People management experience: leading a small team, managing performance, building onboarding plans, and making hiring decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI-native IT tooling like Okta Workflows, n8n, Glean, or agentic AI platforms applied to operational problems.
  • AWS familiarity (IAM, SSO, VPN).
  • Experience at a regulated financial services company (broker-dealer, RIA, or fintech) with knowledge of SOC 2, ITGC, and UAR.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory migration to Okta LDAP.
  • Experience with Zero Touch Deployment or equivalent MDM-based provisioning automation.
  • Familiarity with Jira Service Management for helpdesk configuration and reporting.
  • AWS CCP or equivalent certification, or active pursuit of one.
  • Automation experience with Bash, Python, PowerShell, Google Apps Script, n8n, or equivalent.
  • SOC 2 or ITGC audit experience, having owned evidence collection and UAR execution.

Responsibilities

  • Own Okta as the company's identity platform, including administering SSO/SCIM integrations, managing group lifecycle, and building Okta Workflows for automation.
  • Lead the Active Directory to Okta migration, addressing security gaps in AWS and Microsoft AD environments.
  • Own the Enterprise VPN migration from OpenVPN + AWS credentials to an Okta IDP-integrated solution.
  • Partner with Security on YubiKey program completion, Okta Verify sunset, and endpoint vulnerability SLAs.
  • Own and extend the IT automation roadmap using Okta Workflows, n8n, Google Apps Script, and Claude Code to automate repeatable processes.
  • Launch the T1/T2 helpdesk AI agent for autonomous handling of Okta app access and password resets.
  • Complete the audit evidence AI agent pilot to reduce manual SOC 2 and ITGC evidence collection.
  • Own the MDM/RMM environment using Kaseya VSA, including device enrollment, EOL replacement, vulnerability patching, and remote management.
  • Launch Zero Touch Deployment for pre-configured laptop provisioning.
  • Manage hardware procurement through CDW, maintain asset inventory in Asset Panda, and own the device lifecycle.
  • Own helpdesk operations across all four offices, including JSM queue configuration, SLA targets, escalation paths, and routing.
  • Own new hire onboarding and offboarding, including Okta provisioning, device setup, and access lifecycle management.
  • Support Corp RIA Beta IT operations for incoming Altruist Advisors.
  • Own IT's role in SOC 2 and ITGC audits, including evidence collection, UAR execution, BDO relationship management, and audit readiness.
  • Partner with the Security team on endpoint monitoring, EDR tooling, KnowBe4 administration, and security awareness compliance.
  • Drive toward automated evidence collection for audits.
  • Manage and develop a team of 2-3 IT engineers across Culver City, Dallas, and San Francisco, including running 1:1s, setting growth paths, and establishing team culture.
  • Own all IT vendor relationships, including proactive negotiation.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Cloud Infrastructure, Security, and Platform engineering teams on shared infrastructure and compliance work.
