About The Position

HOK is seeking an experienced IT Manager to join our Corporate Advanced Technology Group, based in our Washington, DC office. This role involves leading regional IT operations and contributing to firmwide technology initiatives within a dynamic, studio-based environment. The position is located in the historic Georgetown neighborhood, offering a collaborative and walkable area.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in an information technology-related field.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Hands-on experience managing help desk systems.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC, server, and SAN technologies.
  • Experience using remote access technologies.
  • Familiarity with basic scripting languages.
  • Proactive, business-minded, highly organized, and capable of managing competing priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Previous experience with managing a helpdesk system is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft or Cisco Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily performance of the Information Technology department.
  • Acts as the escalation path for all technology issues.
  • Interacts with office leadership to address technology needs of the business practice.
  • Maintains accurate asset management records, including lease schedules and on-time return of assets.
  • Oversees local network implementation of the firmwide standard.
  • Implements and maintains anti-virus, personal firewall, backup, archiving, and other IT standards.
  • Monitors and maintains WAN and LAN performance and saturation, escalating problems as required.
  • Responsible for network operations and procedures, ensuring policies and procedures are in place.
  • Responsible for the overall reliability and quality of IP Phone Systems.
  • Maintains meticulous records of telecom and datacom circuits, correcting or escalating problems.
  • Responsible for managing and enforcing acceptable use of peripheral equipment, including cell phones.
  • May supervise one or more IT staff members and be responsible for staff performance development.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, ensure uptime, and provide quality customer service.
  • Meets with other IT Directors and IT Managers to develop and implement IT standards.
  • Performs duties of a Senior IT Support Specialist as needed.
  • May perform after-hour and weekend help desk functions.
  • Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
  • May be responsible for one or more satellite or project offices.
  • Travel is required to other locations within the assigned region, including Miami, Tampa and Atlanta.
  • Overtime may be required, including potential after-hours and weekends as projects require.
