About The Position

The IT Manager will serve as the agency's internal technology authority, responsible for systems, tools, and operational workflows that ensure efficient agency operations. This role involves owning and managing Microsoft 365 and SharePoint environments, overseeing the SaaS portfolio, and acting as the primary liaison with the Managed Service Provider (MSP). The position blends hands-on support with strategic planning for process improvement and technology efficiency, requiring comfort with both immediate problem-solving and long-term business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5+ years in IT, with at least 2+ years serving as a lead IT resource or in a coordination and oversight capacity.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience, including SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, and Intune.
  • Proven track record managing vendor and MSP relationships, including contract review, performance accountability, and escalation management.
  • Experience auditing and managing a multi-platform SaaS environment — evaluating tools for value, eliminating redundancy, and managing renewals.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity best practices, endpoint management, and device lifecycle management.
  • Experience building and maintaining IT documentation, SOPs, and knowledge bases.
  • Strong project management skills — able to prioritize, manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, and follow through without being prompted.
  • Exceptional communicator with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical employees at all levels of the organization.
  • High degree of integrity and professionalism, with a strict commitment to confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and TCP/IP networking protocols.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and associated Microsoft products.
  • Experience administering or supporting Google Workspace in a business environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Server environments and client-server architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Intune, endpoint management, and deploying and configuring workstations.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco DUO deployment and management.
  • Experience troubleshooting and deploying network switches and understanding of network topologies.
  • Familiarity with Android and iOS device management.
  • Experience working within formal change management processes.
  • Broad knowledge of computer hardware, software systems, and information analysis.

  • Certifications in relevant areas such as cybersecurity, Microsoft technologies, project management, or systems architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Managed Service Provider, including reviewing Statements of Work, holding the MSP accountable to service commitments, and representing the agency in performance reviews.
  • Escalate and track open issues to resolution, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Lead and manage active technology initiatives such as Intune/MAM implementation, BYOD policy rollout, and ongoing cybersecurity improvements.
  • Prioritize and manage competing projects with a clear sense of urgency and follow-through.
  • Own, administer, and continuously optimize the Microsoft 365 environment, including SharePoint architecture, permissions, governance, and user adoption.
  • Identify and implement underutilized M365 capabilities to improve collaboration and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive IT documentation, SOPs, and system guides.
  • Ensure documentation stays current as systems and processes evolve.
  • Partner with departments to identify inefficiencies and deliver technology solutions.
  • Serve as a proactive advisor, bringing ideas to the table before problems arise.
  • Own the company's full software portfolio, conducting regular audits for redundancy, eliminating unused licenses, identifying gaps, and ensuring platforms deliver value.
  • Manage vendor relationships, renewals, and contract terms across the software stack.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date IT asset inventory.
  • Manage the full device lifecycle from procurement and configuration through retirement and disposal.
  • Provide responsive, friendly on-site support for devices, printers, peripherals, and workplace technology.
  • Own the new hire onboarding technology experience, ensuring employees are set up, connected, and ready to contribute from day one.
