About The Position

The IT department at San Antonio Zoo oversees implementation and support of IT systems including: computers, network, telephones, audio, video, lighting and more. The I.T. Lead reports directly to the I.T. Manager and assists in performing technical and leadership duties, including providing specialized hardware & software support for end users and all supported devices and systems. This role demands a high level of technical reasoning concerning network & computer systems, strong self-motivation, and a customer service attitude. You will interact with all levels of staff to assist in using the Zoo's computers and networks and help develop plans for each department's computer needs. You will use your abilities to lead I.T. staff. In the absence of the I.T. Manager, the I.T. Lead will perform those duties assigned to the I.T. Manager. Here, you will make an impact by: Assist the I.T. Manager with duties required for safe operation in assigned work areas. Ensure all policies and procedures are within compliance. Assist in training of I.T. staff in all areas of team responsibility. Aid in maintaining system integrity across all supported systems. Troubleshoot and provide resolution to technical issues across supported systems. Configure and deploy workstations for end users with minimal interruption to users. Assist with maintenance of archival systems of Zoo data in SharePoint. Maintain LAN: administer, install & troubleshoot network equipment. Install, test and maintain CAT6 network cabling and train I.T. staff. Train end users on IP phone system and assist with moves, adds, & changes as needed. Assist with implementation, administration and management of O365 products. Use Helpdesk software to document, track and manage active work order requests. Oversee assigned projects and ensure deadlines are met and updates are communicated. Create SOPs for end user and technician training. Remove trash and debris from public area. Any and all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to lead an I.T. team in daily operational process and project involvement.
  • Ability to train I.T. staff and end users in proper operations of I.T. assets.
  • Strong customer service skills and patience.
  • Experience maintaining Windows computers.
  • Knowledge of computer systems including Windows and Apple.
  • Knowledge of network systems including firewall, switches, WAP and cable infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of O365 products and experience supporting them.
  • Ability to troubleshoot & repair individual workstations.
  • Ability to help organize, plan & manage technical projects.
  • Ability to research information support and enhancement purposes
  • Install/maintain cabling. Requires climbing tall ladders & following all safety protocols.
  • Able to perform work under extreme weather conditions typical of south Texas and under extreme working conditions.
  • Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 60 lb, climbing tall ladders, and working in enclosed spaces, with or without accommodations
  • Must be 18 years of age or older with valid state issued driver’s license and pass a DMV background check
  • Must consent to required pre-employment Background Checks, and Drug Screen.
  • Must be available for flexible shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays and special after-hour assignments. San Antonio zoo operates 365 days/year and hosts donor/client events.
  • Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 60 lb, climbing tall.
