About The Position

This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency. Whoever fills this position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency. A background check including BCI and FBI fingerprint check may be required on all selected applicants. A comparative analysis and/or drug test may be a requirement of the hiring process. The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana/non-medical cannabis). This position may be subject to additional restrictions pursuant to the State of Ohio Drug-Free Workplace Policy (HR-39), and as outlined in the posting. This role is within the Director's Office/Information Technology (IT Support) division.

Requirements

  • 9 mos. exp. as Inventory Control Specialist, 64551.
  • 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in inventory control AND 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in electronic data processing related to inventory control AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
  • Records Management

Responsibilities

  • Maintain extensive agency-wide & statewide inventory such as laptops, desktops &/or peripheral equipment & develop, implement & enforce policies & procedures on inventory control.
  • Assign & tag equipment for technician retrieval.
  • Prepare equipment for deployment by generating asset tags, updating tracking systems & staging items for technician use.
  • Unbox & set up devices (e.g., laptops, desktops & peripheral equipment) for imaging; Perform setup steps such as connecting power, verifying components & staging devices for standard configuration loading.
  • Respond to technician & employee requests for accessories (e.g., power adapters, docking stations, keyboards, mice, cables, etc.); Ensure accurate fulfillment & maintain records of distributed items.
