About The Position

This is a temporary role for current TCAT students only, offering $15.00/hour for 24 hours per week. The intern will assist with help desk calls, scheduling, and tickets, providing basic end-user support for technical issues. Responsibilities include computer imaging, staging, and installation under IT staff guidance, as well as assisting in the maintenance of IT standards and documentation. Under direct supervision, incumbents will participate in an internship program within the Department of Information Technology, taking on assignments of increasing complexity as they gain proficiency in areas like web research, system analysis, programming, software installation, and hardware configuration. This position is designed to provide college students currently or recently enrolled in an approved program with technical training and practical experience.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an approved program (TCAT Students Only).
  • Understanding of operating systems, software installation and test procedures, security and operational requirements and clinical and financial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with help desk calls, scheduling, and tickets.
  • Perform basic end-user support to prevent customer service delays for basic technical issues.
  • Under IT staff guidance, perform computer imaging, staging and installation.
  • Assist in the maintenance of IT standards and documentation.
  • Provide support and resolution for basic hardware, network, software, and application problems.
  • Evaluate and/or escalate calls for urgency, complexity, and organizational impact when technical support and resolution fail.
  • Record all user inquiries, from initial call to incident resolution using the services desk system.
  • Ensure that the computer environment is secure, clean, and all maintenance and shift turnover procedures are followed.
  • Provide excellent customer service and develop client relationships through follow-up and client contacts.
  • Help create and expand the knowledge database through documentation of day-to-day problems.
  • Recommend or continuously add to and update procedural and resolution information within the help desk software.
  • Use software and hardware pertinent to the detection and resolution of desktop computers and network problems.
  • Adhere to established department and organizational security policies.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as specified by the device manufacturer’s standards.
  • Ensure all housekeeping and maintenance functions are performed in a timely and scheduled manner.
  • Communicate effectively with other shifts to ensure a smooth shift transition.
  • Reset user’s passwords ensuring that ETCH standards for strong passwords are followed.
