About The Position

Penn State Harrisburg is seeking a motivated and reliable IT Intern to support the technology needs of the Housing & Food Services (HFS) department. This position offers hands-on experience in IT support within a dynamic, customer-focused environment, assisting with systems that directly support campus housing and dining operations.

Requirements

Current Penn State student in Information Technology, MIS, Computer Science, or related field.
Basic knowledge of: Windows and/or macOS
Networking fundamentals
Microsoft Office 365
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Nice To Haves

Previous IT support or help desk experience.
Familiarity with POS systems or enterprise applications.
Experience with ticketing systems.

Responsibilities

Provide first-level technical support for HFS staff, troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Assist with maintenance and support of point-of-sale (POS) systems in dining locations.
Support housing management and operational systems.
Install, configure, and maintain computers, printers, and peripheral devices.
Track and manage IT equipment inventory and asset records.
Assist with user account setup, access permissions, and password resets.
Perform routine updates, system checks, and backups.
Document support requests and resolutions using a ticketing system.
Collaborate with campus IT teams on issue resolution and system improvements.
Assist with special projects, upgrades, and technology initiatives.
