About The Position

This internship is designed for individuals working toward or interested in a career in IT. You will join our IT team supporting an agency of 80 staff members, handling Level 1 desktop support and assisting in larger agency projects. Requests come through a mix of walk-up interactions and our Jira ticketing system. The schedule has flexibility within the hours of 8am - 5pm, Monday through Thursday, 20 hours a week. This role has the potential to go beyond basic helpdesk work. Depending on team projects and your growth, you'll have the chance to get hands-on with: Foundational & legacy computing: Hyper-V, Windows Server, Active Directory, databases, file & network storage. Security: endpoint protection, on-prem server security, and cloud security. Cloud computing: Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. Authentication: SSO practices and implementation. DevOps: automation and CI/CD workflows. Software development: GitHub, Agile, and AI-assisted development.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of operating systems, with an emphasis on Windows
  • Interest in current technologies such as cloud computing, automation, and current cybersecurity trends
  • Comfortable working through technical issues that have multiple possible solutions
  • Comfortable working face-to-face with agency staff
  • Able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical people
  • Reliable and proactive - keeping tickets current and addressing issues independently

Responsibilities

  • help staff with account security and password recoveries
  • support troubleshooting of Wi-Fi, network, and endpoint issues
  • assist with setup and fixes for workstations and peripherals
  • help resolve common issues within Windows and core applications
  • Track and manage incoming tickets using Jira service management
  • Proactively address recurring and unreported issues
  • Communicate technical solutions clearly to non-technical staff
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for agency processes
  • Collaborate with the IT team to discuss and implement new solutions
