About The Position

As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time IT Infrastructure Manager who will promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by being responsible for the leadership, operation, security, reliability, and continuous improvement of the University’s technology infrastructure. This position oversees the systems and services that support academic, administrative, and campus operations, including servers, cloud infrastructure, networks, storage, backup and recovery, identity and access infrastructure, and related technology platforms. The Infrastructure Manager provides both strategic and hands-on technical leadership, ensuring that infrastructure services are secure, resilient, scalable, well-documented, and aligned with the University’s current and future needs. The position works collaboratively with IT colleagues, University leadership, faculty, staff, vendors, and other campus partners to maintain a reliable technology environment and support institutional priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise technology infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple infrastructure areas such as networking, servers, virtualization, cloud technologies, storage, backup/recovery, identity management, and enterprise systems.
  • Experience administering or supporting Microsoft enterprise technologies and/or comparable enterprise infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, patching, backup, disaster recovery, and system lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cybersecurity principles and infrastructure security practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and systems issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, priorities, deadlines, and competing operational demands.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to respond to critical infrastructure incidents outside normal business hours when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience managing or providing leadership to infrastructure, network, systems, or cloud professionals.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience supporting a complex, multi-building or multi-site technology environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, virtualization technologies, enterprise networking, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShell or similar tools.
  • Experience developing and testing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Experience with IT service management practices, change management, and incident management.
  • Experience managing technology vendors, contracts, licensing, and infrastructure budgets.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as Microsoft Azure, Cisco, CompTIA, VMware, ITIL, or comparable infrastructure/cloud certifications.
  • Experience developing infrastructure roadmaps, lifecycle replacement plans, and multi-year technology strategies.

  • Maintain a secure, reliable, stable, and highly available technology infrastructure that supports University operations.

  • Proactively identify risks and address concerns before they significantly impact University operations.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation and ensure institutional knowledge is not dependent upon a single individual.
  • Develop infrastructure team members and establish appropriate cross-training and succession of technical knowledge.
  • Build collaborative relationships across IT and throughout the University.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and responsible stewardship of University resources.
  • Maintain appropriate availability during critical incidents, outages, upgrades, and other events that may occur outside normal business hours.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement, service, accountability, and collaboration.
