About The Position

The Marvin Group is a Strategic Partner for Global Alternate Mission Equipment and SustainmentThe Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor, plays a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles. Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Marvin Land Systems (MLS).  Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment.  Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. Our collaboration extends across a diverse array of programs and platforms, including major military prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.      POSITION SUMMARY:     During this internship the selected candidate will support IT infrastructure network administrators to improve network performance, document accuracy, and physical organization.   The internship learning objectives will include:   Learn structured cabling standards and best practices Gain hands-on experience organizing and documenting IDF environments Develop skills in network cable tracing, labeling, and routing Understand basic network hardware and rack layouts

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate, community college, or accredited technical program and be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Postgraduate student by the start of summer, pursuing Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to data center environments, including basic understanding of racks, servers, cabling, and power/cooling concepts
  • Coursework, or hands-on familiarity with networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP)
  • CCNA certification (or currently pursuing CCNA) is a plus
  • 3.5 or above cumulative GPA desired
  • Prior IT project or internship experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Microsoft Office or other presentation tools
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with coworkers on cross-function teams from diverse communities and cultures
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution style

Responsibilities

  • Assist with network management in IDF rooms, including organizing and securing network cables.
  • Label network cables and update rack/patch panel documentation.
  • Help clean and organize IDF spaces to maintain safety and operational standards.
  • Perform basic inventory of network equipment and supplies.
  • Support IT Infrastructure staff with general tasks as assigned.
  • Follow all IT policies, safety guidelines, and equipment-handling procedures.
