About The Position

The IT Field Technician I provides hands-on technical support for retail systems and infrastructure across assigned locations. This role supports installations, troubleshooting, maintenance, and on-site technical needs while working collaboratively with internal IT teams and third-party vendors to resolve issues efficiently and support reliable store operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • 1+ year of hands-on field support experience; overall 2–3 years of experience supporting POS systems, site networks, cabling, and related technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, computers, printers, POS hardware, and mobile devices.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability and willingness to drive daily within the assigned territory to support multiple locations.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and the ability to meet company motor vehicle and background check requirements.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds and safely climb ladders for cabling and ceiling-mounted devices.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to support non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or exposure to using IT ticketing systems to track, document, and maintain incidents and service requests is preferred.
  • Experience with low-voltage data/telecom cabling, including jacks and patch panels, is strongly preferred.
  • Retail, convenience store, or multi-site environment experience is a plus.
  • Technical certifications or completion of IT-related courses are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize an IT ticketing system to receive, track, document, and update service requests and incidents through resolution.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IT hardware and software across retail locations.
  • Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity issues, including cabling, switches, firewalls, and ISP handoffs.
  • Repair, replace, and test IT equipment, including POS systems, peripherals, endpoints, tablets, IoT devices, CCTV, and network hardware.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for retail technologies such as POS, kiosks, PCs, mobile devices, and network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams and third-party vendors to troubleshoot issues and drive resolution through proper escalation.
  • Accurately document work performed, update tickets, and maintain technical documentation.
  • Drive daily to multiple retail and operational locations within the assigned territory to perform on-site support, installations, and maintenance.
  • Travel primarily within the assigned territory, with occasional travel to SC/NC for contingency coverage or major projects.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company-issued assets to ensure quality and safety.
  • Build positive relationships with internal users, store teams, and external service providers.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including nights and weekends, to support 24/7 operations.
  • Respond to urgent incidents and emergency calls during on-call rotations or as requested by leadership.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
