About The Position

Big Red Liquors is seeking a dependable, service-oriented IT Field Technician to provide hands-on technology support for our retail stores and Support Office. This position plays an important role in keeping our stores operating efficiently by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting point-of-sale (POS) systems, computers, networks, mobile devices, security systems, and other technology used throughout our organization. The IT Field Technician will provide both remote and on-site support and will regularly travel to store locations to resolve technical issues, install or replace equipment, and assist Team Members with the effective and appropriate use of company technology. The ideal candidate combines strong technical troubleshooting skills with excellent communication, organization, and customer service. Just as importantly, this individual understands that technology issues can directly impact store operations and our customers and responds with an appropriate sense of urgency.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an IT Technician, Help Desk, Desktop Support, Field Technician, or similar technical support role preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, Windows-based systems, software applications, networking, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Experience supporting retail POS systems is preferred but not required.
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to systematically identify the cause of technical problems and determine practical solutions.
  • Strong customer-service mindset with the ability to work effectively with Team Members who have varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the IT team, store management, vendors, and other departments.
  • Understanding of basic cybersecurity, data privacy, password security, and safe technology practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple service requests and adjust priorities when urgent operational issues arise.
  • Candidates must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to retail locations as needed.
  • The position also requires a reliable means of communication during scheduled working hours.

Nice To Haves

  • IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft certifications, or similar credentials are a plus but are not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 technical support to retail stores, Support Office Team Members, and other users.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot POS registers, computers, workstations, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Diagnose hardware, software, network, connectivity, and system issues and determine the appropriate solution.
  • Repair or replace computer and POS hardware and coordinate more complex repairs or support when necessary.
  • Install, update, and configure software, operating systems, applications, and related technology according to company standards.
  • Assist with basic network troubleshooting, including internet connectivity, routers, switches, wireless networks, and other store communication equipment.
  • Work with internet, telephone, software, hardware, and other third-party service providers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of store security and surveillance equipment and retrieve or review security video when requested by authorized management.
  • Assist with technology setup for new stores, remodels, relocations, upgrades, and equipment replacements.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance of IT equipment to help identify potential problems before they impact store operations.
  • Prioritize support requests based on urgency and operational impact, particularly issues affecting POS systems, store connectivity, or the ability to serve customers.
  • Maintain accurate records of service requests, equipment installations, repairs, replacements, and maintenance performed.
  • Maintain organized inventory of IT equipment, replacement hardware, accessories, and other technology assets.
  • Provide basic instruction and support to Team Members on the proper, secure, and effective use of company technology.
  • Follow company cybersecurity, data privacy, access control, and technology-use standards.
  • Identify recurring technology issues and communicate opportunities for improved reliability, efficiency, or user experience.
  • Perform other technology-related duties and projects as assigned.
