The IT Engineering Manager is responsible for delivering the highest quality IT engineering solutions, aligned with scope, schedule, and technical requirements. Engineering is organized into Teams and Disciplines within the Innovative Solutions Division. The IT Engineering Manager serves as the technical authority for the IT Engineering Team, supporting all Innovative Solutions Teams and ensuring cross-discipline technical integrity.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration and meet all Federal Contractor employee requirements.
  • Nomad GCS does not support the H1B Visa for this position.
  • 5–10+ years of manufacturing engineering leadership experience.
  • Experience managing individual contributors or prior Team Lead experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in IT Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Degree must be ABET accredited.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex manufacturing or engineering processes with evolving work content.

Responsibilities

  • Directly oversee and lead the IT Engineering Team.
  • Develop the IT Engineering Team, aligning individual goals with company objectives and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Hire and/or develop IT Engineering Team members, including subject matter experts (SMEs) required for current and future product lines.
  • Deliver high-quality IT engineering solutions aligned with project scope, cost, schedule, quality, and customer expectations.
  • Propose and support new IT engineering ideas, leading solution-oriented and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the technical authority for all IT engineering work across all Innovation Solutions teams.
  • Be accountable for the technical design, integration, and performance of IT, network, and electronic systems within the connected mobile operation center, ensuring they are safe, ergonomic, durable, maintainable, and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Ensure IT systems integrate cleanly with Electrical, Mechanical, Human Factor, and Software Engineering requirements.
  • Possess final authority on all matters of IT engineering technical correctness, including standards compliance, engineering methods, interface definitions, safety logic, control behavior, cybersecurity requirements, and cross-discipline technical integrity.
  • Require design changes when IT engineering standards, safety logic, or network/security compliance requirements (e.g., NIST-800-171, NDAA) are not met.
  • Provide appropriate IT engineering skillsets and technical support—including after-hours escalation support as required—to ensure successful project execution.
  • Define, develop, and implement electronic systems, network architectures, and processes that increase IT engineering efficiency and system performance.
  • Support Team 1 in developing and maintaining IT design standards, modularity rules, templates, and libraries, including standards related to networking, RF, cellular, VSAT, CCTV, and other communication technologies.
  • Support Team 2 by ensuring new engineers are thoroughly trained in IT standards, design methods, system security practices, hardware/software fundamentals, and engineering workflows.
  • Support Team 3 by reviewing and contributing to first-of-kind engineering solutions, ensuring technical soundness, cybersecurity readiness, and system reliability.
  • Support Team 4 by validating manufacturability of IT systems, optimizing build workflows, and ensuring designs are safe, repeatable, production-ready, and aligned with integrated product requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Production, and other engineering groups to incorporate lessons learned into future IT system architecture and product designs.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making, leveraging engineering metrics and performance data to guide departmental improvements.
  • Facilitate strong communication across all departments to ensure the seamless flow of IT engineering information, decisions, and design intent.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of network security (firewalls, VPNs, compliance frameworks), communication systems (RF, cellular, VSAT, CCTV), and electronic hardware/software systems, and apply that expertise across the organization.
  • Model and reinforce Nomad Core Values in daily operations and team leadership.
  • Manage and allocate engineering resources in support of each roadmap maintained by every Team Director.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews for each contributor, evaluating agreed tasks, ad hoc tasks, communication, quality, and mentoring.
  • Obtain accurate hourly completion estimates for each quarterly task on the Team Director’s roadmap.
  • Implement Clifton Strengths assessments and apply results to team development and resource planning.
