About The Position

Nomad Global Communication Solutions (Nomad GCS) is a leading provider of communication and response products. This IT Engineer II position is a full-time role within the Innovative Solutions Group, IT Engineering Department. The IT Engineer is responsible for the design, documentation, testing, and support of technology installed in customer-related projects, including communications, Voice systems, Video systems, Data systems, and integration with mechanical and electrical subsystems. Engineers collaborate closely with Manufacturing, IT Integration, Quality, and Program Management to ensure safe, reliable, and manufacturable designs. IT Engineers progress through five levels (I-V) based on technical mastery, independence, leadership, and impact, with advancement supported through mentorship and project ownership. This role is located within the IT Engineering discipline.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration and meet all Federal Contractor employee requirements.
  • Nomad GCS does not support the H1B Visa for this position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or 2-5 years IT support experience; industry experience preferred.
  • 2-5 years IT engineering experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Audio, Video, Phone, and Data systems, codes, and manufacturing support.
  • Ability to estimate effort, manage priorities, and meet engineering schedules.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with manufacturing, supply chain, and peers.
  • Ability to work safely around energized systems when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience owning IT project design tasks end-to-end for small to mid-complexity systems.
  • Experience releasing Build Documentation to manufacturing and supporting early production.
  • Regular use of and application of compliance requirements and standards (disa list and tempest requirements) with minimal oversight.
  • Interface directly with customers, suppliers, or regulatory bodies as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design IT build documentation and BOM assemblies for assigned projects.
  • Experience owning IT project design tasks end-to-end for small to mid-complexity systems.
  • Create complete, production-ready IT build documentation.
  • Hands-on involvement with prototype builds and failure investigation.
  • Experience releasing Build Documentation to manufacturing and supporting early production.
  • Regular use of and application of compliance requirements and standards (disa list and tempest requirements) with minimal oversight.
  • Apply IT standards, and best practices to designs.
  • Support manufacturing troubleshooting and resolve moderate design issues.
  • Participate actively in design reviews and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Perform basic system-level testing and validation.
  • Demonstrate consistent quality, organization, and accountability in deliverables.
  • Demonstrate ability to estimate effort, manage priorities, and meet engineering schedules.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with manufacturing, supply chain, and peers.
  • Interface directly with customers, suppliers, or regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Design, develop, and support IT systems for Nomad vehicles and platforms.
  • Create and maintain IT build documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable security and governmental compliances, safety standards, and customer requirements.
  • Support manufacturing by answering technical questions, resolving build issues, and improving design clarity.
  • Participate in design reviews, testing, validation, and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Integration, Human Factor Engineering, Software Engineering, Production, Quality, and Project Management teams.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
