IT & Development Manager (Data-Driven School Services)
About The Position
Strawbridge Studios is seeking a dynamic IT & Development Manager to lead both their Infrastructure (IT) and Software Development teams. This role involves balancing common sense business practices, employee development, and company growth while building systems that serve schools, families, and internal teams with excellence in technology, data integrity, and customer experience. The IT department is expected to function as a strategic partner in the business. The ideal candidate will lead and develop high-performing teams, set the technology vision and roadmap, and translate operational challenges into scalable technical solutions. Key responsibilities include ensuring the security and integrity of sensitive student and school data, overseeing compliance with data privacy standards (FERPA, SOC 2, third-party data regulations), managing core systems, overseeing the software development lifecycle, and evaluating new tools and platforms. The role also involves ensuring system uptime and reliability during critical production windows, leading cross-functional collaboration, and optimizing processes for data handling, automation, and reporting. Success will be measured by secure, stable, and scalable systems during peak seasons, accurate and efficient data flows, and consistent delivery of innovative, business-driven solutions by the development team. The ideal candidate is a problem solver, a passionate and proven leader with experience managing IT and/or software development teams, comfortable in data-heavy, compliance-driven environments, with a strong understanding of infrastructure, networking, system security, software development practices, and data management systems. They must also be able to balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution.

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop high-performing IT and Software Development teams through a culture of Integrity, Candor, Innovation & Growth
- Set the technology vision and roadmap in alignment with business goals
- Translate operational challenges into scalable technical solutions
- Ensure the security and integrity of sensitive student and school data
- Oversee compliance with data privacy standards (FERPA, SOC 2, third-party data regulations)
- Partner with operations to manage all core systems including data intake, production workflows, and customer-facing platforms
- Oversee software development lifecycle from initial planning through to release
- Evaluate and implement new tools, platforms, and integrations that improve efficiency and scalability
- Ensure uptime, reliability, and performance of systems during critical production windows
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Customer Support, and Sales
- Optimize processes for data handling, automation, and reporting
