Position Summary: HII: Mission Technoolgies is seeking is seeking a qualified, proactive, and customer-focused IT Specialist (Desktop System Administrator) for The U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) Information Management OfficeIn this role, you will deliver journey-level functional application support, customer service desk operations, and hands-on system administration. Responsibilities span mission-specific desktop environments (Windows 11).You will act as both a Desktop System Administrator, ensuring high availability, system integrity, and robust security posture, and a Customer Advocate within DEVCOM GVSC, resolving complex IT issues, leading conference room audiovisual support, and safeguarding systems in compliance with Department of the Army (DA) and Department of War (DoW) standards. This role requires on-site work in Warren, MI and cannot be performed remotely. Come support our work with Ground Vehicle Systems Center and join a high-performing team of engineers!

Requirements

3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.
Minimum of one to three years of hands-on experience in desktop support, system administration, and customer support within enterprise Windows environment.
Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearanceis required at hire and eligibility for DoW IT Level I access (subject to background investigation and DD Form 254 compliance).
8140 Cyber Workforce Certification: Active DoW 8140 Technical Support Specialist (Code 411) baseline certification (e.g., CompTIA A+ CE, or CompTIA Network+ CE, or CompTIA Security+ CE), or BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Software Engineering.
Operating System Certifications: Current equivalent Modern Desktop Administrator certification on Microsoft Windows 11 Platform.
In-depth understanding of operating system internals, TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, group policies (GPOs), and system registry configurations.
Working knowledge of DoW cybersecurity policies, vulnerability mitigation workflows, and STIG implementation techniques.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear instructions for non-technical users and deliver professional briefings to leadership and system owners.
Ability to independently evaluate emerging IT products, functional software, and hardware tools against Army acquisition and logistics constraints.

Nice To Haves

Working familiarity with ITIL v3/v4 frameworks and ISO quality standards.
Hands-on experience with Army/DoW enterprise tools: IT Service Management, ACAS, SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC), and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM).
Prior experience supporting Army Computer Systems.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, deploy, test, maintain, and upgrade operating systems and layered software packages for client workstations running Microsoft Windows.
Provide direct touch labor for installing, moving, troubleshooting, and repairing desktops, laptops, servers, peripherals, and mission-specific hardware.
Maintain desktop configurations strictly in accordance with Computer System Configuration Baseline (CSCB), and established IT operational policies.
Monitor and tune workstations to achieve optimal performance; regularly review system, security, and application logs (at least daily) and provide summary reports on findings.
Maintain physical security standards within hosting spaces and provide required escort support for non-NOC personnel accessing hosting environments.
IAVA Patch Management: Apply Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA/IAVM) security patches and operating system updates within mandatory suspense dates; conduct rigorous post-patch functional testing to ensure operational availability without adverse side effects.
Perform regular security checklists, apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and evaluate scan results generated by Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
Support RMF lifecycle tasks, certification and accreditation efforts, and policy adherence to protect system confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA).
Act as the primary IT Customer Advocate within DEVCOM GVSC; handle walk-in, phone, and ticketing system inquiries with prompt, courteous, and effective solutions.
Record all incidents, user requests, and troubleshooting milestones in the designated ticketing tool, coordinating tier-to-tier escalation and driving tickets to validated closure.
Analyze service request patterns and log data to identify chronic computer problems, formulate root-cause solutions, and develop "lessons learned" to boost customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Deliver informal on-the-job guidance and technical instruction to end users regarding business processes, application capabilities, and IT best practices.
Provide full administrative and technical support for classified and unclassified conference rooms, collaboration spaces, and mobile collaboration assets.
Review event requests (schedules, locations, duration, participant roster, POCs, and audiovisual requirements) to stage and test conferencing equipment prior to meetings.
Quickly diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network protocol, and connectivity faults affecting video teleconferencing (VTC) and multimedia presentation systems.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Author, maintain, and refine SOPs for routine and contingency operations; submit documentation for peer/technical team review 48 hours prior to implementation.
Document every manual intervention and system outage on the day of occurrence; execute formal root-cause analyses detailing corrective measures and preventive strategies.
Maintain a comprehensive software/hardware library and baseline configuration tracking system, documenting open/closed ports, protocols, services, and hardware/software changes.
Produce weekly ticket status reports, monthly System Architecture health metrics, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) data, and capacity management reporting for the Government Performance Certifier
