About The Position

The City of Chandler Police Department is seeking qualified individuals for the IT Database Senior Analyst position. This role involves planning, creating, installing, supporting, and maintaining complex departmental databases, ensuring secure access and usage, and providing backup support for enterprise databases. This is a regular full-time, exempt position with benefits, with an anticipated work schedule of Monday-Friday, on-site, with on-call and weekend duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field of study.
  • At least 4 years of experience in database management, administration, and support in a SQL environment that includes clustering.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2019 or newer) and Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance.
  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Always On, clustering, replication, and log shipping.
  • Experience with database backup, restore, and data protection tools.
  • Understanding of cloud and hybrid database environments.
  • Experience with Azure data or BI services such as MSBI or Fabric.
  • Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Experience supporting cloud migrations or database modernization projects.
  • Microsoft or Azure database certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, plan, design, and implement high reliability, availability, and scalability solutions for enterprise SQL database environments.
  • Assist with capacity planning.
  • Perform database recovery, backups, clones, refreshes, exports, imports, storage maintenance, and security maintenance tasks for multiple databases.
  • Draft documentation, including standard operating procedures.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize SQL scripts.
  • Determine modifications to tune database performance and provide solutions and recommendations for improvements.
  • Serve as the database technical expert to the department.
  • Coordinate database-related projects, including assignment, schedules, and plans.
  • Plan and conduct maintenance functions, migration, and upgrades.
  • Coordinate with users and vendors to ensure compliance with vendor license agreements.
