About The Position

This role guides the development and management of a portfolio of solutions in the data, reporting, predictive intelligence, and data science domains. Solutions include projects, products, systems, shared infrastructure services and shared application services. The data architect provides the necessary thought leadership, analysis and design tasks to develop technology solutions that meet business needs and align with architectural governance and security standards. This includes the technical design, process design, architectural information model, and day-to-day contributing to data management and data governance practices as an influencer and stakeholder. The role is expected to be hands-on – while you won’t necessarily be writing a lot of production code as part of project delivery, a successful candidate will be working closely with engineering staff and architects to directly develop PoC solutions and will be as comfortable working deep in the details as at the strategic level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, 7 years of experience in an architectural role or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Seven (7) years experience in data architecture or a related technical field with significant design contribution
  • Strong knowledge of data ecosystems, Big Data patterns, Cloud Service Providers, business intelligence solutions, data integration patterns, common data warehousing patterns, retrospective reporting, predictive analytics, and exploratory analytics patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of modern data and platform delivery practices in one or more recognized paradigms (data fabric, data mesh, data warehouse, data lake house, data lake, etc.)
  • Expert knowledge across a broad set of data delivery and data hosting platforms. (RDBMS, NoSQL tools, data warehouses, data query tools, data visualization tools, persistent data models, integration platforms, etc.)
  • Expert understanding of data engineering fundamentals, implementation of modern data platforms, and data modelling characteristics
  • Familiarity with of information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, and one or more architectural frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, or equivalent. Slight preference for GCP, but a track record of delivering quality data solutions outweighs specific technology affinity.
  • MDM knowledge (Reltio, Informatica, or similar) is a plus
  • Exceptional structured problem-solving, strategic synthesis, and executive communication skills.
  • Strong capability in strategy facilitation, roadmap development, portfolio management, and prioritization across competing demands.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, drive alignment, and lead change without direct authority.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to convert complex qualitative and quantitative inputs into clear recommendations and decisions.
  • Proficiency with strategic planning and change management approaches such as operating model design, capability mapping, and change adoption frameworks.
  • Strong judgment, follow-through, and comfort building new processes, tools, and management routines from the ground up.
  • People leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and elevate a small team while setting a high bar for performance.
