About The Position

Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric utility that provides power to rural Wright County and western Hennepin County. The cooperative has been a corporate citizen to the area since 1937 and currently serves more than 59,000 electric accounts. The IT Data & Systems Analyst is responsible for leading data analytics, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives across the Cooperative. The role designs, develops, and supports executive-level dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), scorecards, and analytics solutions that support strategic, operational, and departmental decision-making throughout the year. This position server as the main database administrator, develops and maintains SQL queries, modernizes legacy databases and Microsoft Access applications, supports Salesforce reporting, and delivers accurate, timely insights through modern business intelligence platforms including Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and Crystal Reports. The Data and Systems Analyst is also responsible for assisting with support of core infrastructure systems including the IT data center and enterprise network.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or enterprise reporting, including: SQL Server query development and optimization
  • Dashboard and report development using modern BI tools
  • Supporting business stakeholders with data driven insights
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, OR equivalent professional experience
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, without close supervision
  • Ability to keep privileged information confidential
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with IT and business professionals
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to effectively teach and train others in new skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI
  • Tableau Administration
  • Database administration: SQL, Postgres, MongoDB, MySQL, or Oracle
  • Microsoft Access administration
  • Salesforce administration, report design and development
  • Scripting: PowerShell, python, pearl, JavaScript, YAML
  • Experience with data extract, transform, load (ETL) methods and API method calls; REST, JSON
  • Dashboard design and KPI development

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical collaboration efforts with vendors and internal teams to design, maintain, and continuously improve an enterprise SQL data lake
  • Build and maintain data governance practices to ensure data integrity, availability, security, performance, and reliability
  • Design, develop, and support data integrations, extract-transform-load (ETL) processes, and data pipeline automation
  • Develop new SQL Server queries, views, and stored procedures
  • Design, build, and maintain database maintenance plans
  • Develop, maintain, and test data backup and disaster recovery procedures
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Crystal Reports, and other business intelligence tools
  • Create executive-level dashboards, KPIs, and scorecards for leadership, departments, and workgroups
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define metrics, data requirements, and reporting standards
  • Standardize, streamline, and automate business reporting across the Cooperative
  • Provide administration and support for Tableau, Power BI, Salesforce reporting, scripting, and business intelligence platforms
  • Lead vendor coordination efforts for supported platforms including escalation, upgrade planning, roadmap alignment, and issue tracking
  • Manage application licenses, capacity, user security, and system access controls
  • Configure and maintain application servers and related settings in both on-premises and cloud environments
  • Maintain production and test environment alignment, data refreshes, and controlled access
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and modernize legacy SQL queries and database objects
  • Support legacy Microsoft Access applications
  • Lead conversion of Access-based applications and reports to modern, scalable platforms and reporting solutions
  • Design and execute end-user training for data and reporting applications
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing and user change adoption
  • Develop and maintain application use documentation, procedures, and support materials
  • Serve as a member of the on-call team and take immediate action to resolve issues that arise, including daily Help Desk tickets
  • Provide after-hours or offsite IT support at special events
  • Provide backup support to other members of the IT team
  • Document and maintain application support material including administration manuals, system diagrams, license agreements, and workflows
  • Observe all safety rules outlined in the Cooperative Safety Manual and make complete use of safety equipment furnished to comply with these rules
