About The Position

The IT Data Analyst queries data sets from larger repositories across campus for administrators, faculty stakeholders, and other IT roles. The position reviews data for accuracy and ensures that retrieved and provided data follows security guidelines for different categories. The analyst collaborates closely with IT team members and selected cross-functional teams to create reports.

The analyst assists in preparing data sets for Evisions Argos/ArgosX and tools such as Microsoft Power BI; extracts data for reports while following data integrity, quality, and security guidelines; and helps administration and faculty teams investigate options for meeting their reporting goals. The role also prepares or configures simple reports using requirements established with IT and cross-functional team members, and helps refine stakeholder requirements for larger reporting projects. This is a full-time, onsite position in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Two years of experience in IT.
• Working knowledge of extracting data and writing reports, data cubes, and other views for defined business purposes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working as part of a coordinated team.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute small organizational data initiatives.
• Familiarity with industry best practices for data extraction, transformation, loading, and use, or similar practices.
• Experience with ticketing systems.
• Experience with and working knowledge of SQL and Microsoft Excel.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with, or willingness to gain knowledge and experience in, reporting systems such as Evisions ArgosX, Microsoft Power BI, and other tools that may be adopted for enterprise-level reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and preparing data sets for use in Evisions Argos/ArgosX and tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
• Extract data for reports while following data integrity, quality, and security guidelines, including Data Governance guidelines.
• Help administration and faculty teams investigate options for achieving their data and reporting goals and needs.
• Prepare simple reports and/or configure simple reports using requirements established by IT and selected cross-functional team members.
• Assist in refining stakeholder report requirements as input to larger data reporting projects or needs.
• Review data for accuracy and ensure retrieved and provided data follows applicable security guidelines.
• Collaborate with IT team members and selected cross-functional teams in creating reports.
