About The Position

The IT Coordinator works under the direction of the Assistant Director of Information Systems performing network, hardware and software management, ensuring system security. The IT Coordinator will coordinate and assist with IT plan implementation.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited 4 year college or university.
  • Area of Study (Major) Required: Computer science, Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS), Management Information Systems (MIS) or related technical field.
  • Valid LA Driver's License.
  • Over 1 year up to three years of experience in IT, Computer Science or Systems Analysis.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of IT Systems and Applications
  • Knowledge of Wide Area Networks
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Client and Server Operating Systems and Active Directory
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, and Microsoft SharePoint Server
  • Skill in computer programming or scripting language
  • Skill in introductory training & instruction of end users
  • High in customer service and the ability to deal with the public with tact and courtesy.
  • Excellent decision-making skills to respond to balance the interests of clients and customer demands
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to express technical areas verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make technical decisions concerning information systems applications and performance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues
  • Ability to quickly learn BREC policies and procedures, operations and programs

  • Microsoft Certified Trainer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Network Infrastructure Management
  • Perform Hardware Management and End-User Support
  • Perform Software Management and End-User Support
  • Perform End-User Security Account Management
  • Perform Special Project Plan, Design, and Implementation
  • Perform work in accordance with knowledge of BREC operations
  • Install and maintain computers, hardware and PC software including BREC software and appropriate hardware
  • Determine value in legacy software or equipment and recommend new or upgraded enhancements to existing software programs or hardware and operating systems
  • Answer all software or hardware related requests for training, fixes, other issues and takes them to completion
  • Provide technical support and assistance on software or hardware issues and desktop (PC) applications
  • Monitor and control the operation of software or computer equipment
  • Determine the cause of malfunctions and take corrective action as needed
  • Coordinate the efforts of contractors, consultants, and vendors that are assigned such activities
  • Maintain a history log of service calls, vendor responsiveness, etc. for all software or hardware maintenance
  • Answer all software-related requests for training, fixes, other issues and takes them to completion
  • Provide technical support and assistance to end users on software issues and desktop (PC) applications
  • Assist with IT Plan development and implementation
  • Research enhancements and improvements in existing software and recommend updates and upgrades of software
  • Verify that all custom software installed is at the most current version.
  • Train end-users on BREC custom software
  • Train end-users on standard Microsoft applications and operating systems
