About The Position

The Business Systems Analyst is a member of the technical product team that understands both the mortgage business and software development. This individual is responsible for the construction and deployment of specific solutions and, in that role, serves as a bridge between business stakeholders and the development team, helping translate business needs into scalable, effective technology solutions.

Requirements

  • College degree in business administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Mortgage Banking, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum two years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, technology support, or mortgage operations.
  • Demonstrated software development knowledge and technical capability, including the ability to: Understand application architecture, development frameworks, and system components.
  • Create or guide wireframes, prototypes, and visual workflows.
  • Use AI prompting and design tools to accelerate prototyping and transition to full-stack development.
  • Collaborate with the developers in ensuring the end product meets business needs and expectations.
  • Review and test APIs, integrations, and third-party technology solutions.
  • Test and validate developed software against business requirements, technical specifications, and approved prototypes.
  • Strong technical and business communication skills, including the ability to: Collaborate with business owners to understand their ideas, pain points, and objectives.
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable product and functional requirements.
  • Evaluate requests against real business, operational, and borrower needs.
  • Communicate product decisions, priorities, and tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders and users.
  • Manage roadmaps, priorities, and release plans across multiple products or platforms.
  • Monitor product adoption, usability, and business value after release.
  • Continuously evaluate product viability and recommend enhancements, optimization, or retirement of solutions when appropriate.
  • Experience documenting business requirements, workflows, or process improvements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and reporting tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Strong customer service orientation and commitment to continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in software product management, software delivery, business systems analysis, or technology solution design preferred.
  • Understanding of mortgage origination, sales, fulfillment, or operations workflows is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of mortgage lending operations, loan origination systems, or financial services environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, workflows, and system needs from stakeholders.
  • Evaluate enterprise-wide business impact, technical feasibility, and development complexity for new products, concepts, and enhancement requests.
  • Assess build-versus-buy options for all or portions of requested solutions.
  • Use AI-powered visual prototyping, wireframing, and design tools to create interactive mockups and adaptable user interface concepts aligned with NFM’s brand portfolio.
  • Partner closely with full-stack development teams to guide the software development lifecycle, including planning, prioritization, testing, and release management.
  • Validate, test, and approve product releases to ensure alignment with business requirements and user expectations.
  • Prepare product documentation and present product concepts, updates, and outcomes to management and end users.
  • Manage product roadmaps and communication of priorities, release schedules, and delivery timelines.
  • Evaluate current business processes and systems to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and operational improvement.
  • Assess business impact, technical feasibility, and implementation considerations for system enhancements and new solutions.
  • Support system configuration, implementation, upgrades, and enhancement initiatives.
  • Participate in solution design discussions and provide recommendations that align business needs with technology capabilities.
  • Coordinate and perform system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), validation activities, and defect resolution.
  • Develop and distribute release notes, user communications, and system documentation for implemented changes.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across multiple business functions.
  • Generate reports, analyze system data, and provide insights to support business decision-making.
  • Stay informed on mortgage industry trends, system capabilities, and emerging technologies.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
